Did lights and buzzers go off when you entered that? Surely you just won the internet!

AFL News: 'Shame for our game' - legend unloads on Greene ban, 'world's gone mad' as skinfold tests punted

If I understand you correctly, club lists will increase each year. Jumping from 44 to 100 – can I expect an increase of around 55 people per club, per year?
I probably only need to live into my mid 200,000s now to get drafted!! (Assuming a static population – this is 4am maths).

😛 to all those who said “Never in a million years’.

I’m excited by the prospect. Also glad there will be no skinfolds – by then I’ll be ALL skinfolds.

Ok, I’ll be that guy.

The answer is obvious: 8 field umpires.

That’s technically true – in a way. If a camera detects a speeding vehicle, the system sends the owner the fine, as everyone assumes the owner is driving. Just as the police recognition system brings up the owner, and the police make an educated guess that the owner is the driver, based on millions of samples.

Oliver's off-season from hell continues as Dees star charged for driving with suspended licence

The Don didn’t say that, Taylor Adams said he’d be a failure without a flag. I might call the bloke out if he says something I disagree with, but Don Freo actually paid Adams a compliment.

I reckon you’ve nailed it. 2024, no encumbrances, JLo makes his mark or moves on. You’ve got the cattle (no injuries jinx) – if he keeps making weird selections, he’s probably punched his own ticket. I don’t think he’s an awful game day coach, as it happens – his deficiencies are poor poor selection and poor planning. That’s been my observation, anyway. How much of that will be remedied by the reshuffle remains to be seen – I had a good opinion of Bell, but now I’m wondering if he’s constantly stirring the pot behind the scenes. Can he let go?

You hate the way JLo coaches.

'It's hard on your family': Goodwin hits back at drug rumours as CEO defends Oliver's 'personal challenges' in open letter

From Craig Kelly:
“The club wishes to address the matter to make clear both these allegations are completely untrue and the video being circulated does NOT involve any current or former Collingwood players or their partners.

Thought it was suss that I’m in at the ground floor on a rumour.

'Jack's decision': Pies deny forcing Ginnivan out as goalsneak heads to Hawks

If he is being treated like an adult, he can have the (minor) criminal charge that goes with using the illegal substance.
To those that say “Oh just let him have it” – get it legalised, standardised and the manufacturer properly controlled. Not a one of us, including Joel, actually know what he took into his body – yet you want to argue there’s “no harm in it”.
I personally have no issue with the decriminalisation of this or certain other substances, given controlled manufacturing and regulation.

AFL Trade Period power rankings: Super Swans, Docker shocker, and the best deal in Gold Coast's history

Since it looks like I’m first, I’ll state the obvious: despite justifications, these lists are subjective.
Sydney, 1st no problem, for the reasons you’ve given.
I’ll place Essendon 2nd, if half of that works, they’re successful
You actually make a convincing argument for the Suns to be 3rd.
North 4th, mainly due to the hidden box of mystery that is compensation. I do not like it.
It’s a punch up between Melbourne, The Doggies and Port in that order for me next. Time will tell if I mixed those three up.
I’m not convinced the Hawks did that well, if I allow them 8th below those three, I can live with that.
The Lions. Doedee is a great get – once he plays, if his knee holds up. I can’t place them higher until this time next year, and I’ll be happy to be wrong. Potentially much higher.
Collingwood – made the best of a bad situation, in my opinion. Adams wanted out, they probably paid overs for Schultz but strengthened their depth.
I’ll play Carlton at 11th, just above 12th. Not awful, not spectacular, just ok.
West Coast – what’s wrong with bringing in Flynn and Brockman? I’d nearly swap them up.
St Kilda – yeah, probably broke even, though Henry is a good get, they lost Billings and Gresham (roll the dice on both) and Coffield. The difference could be Dow – wouldn’t that be a turn up?
Did Freo do that badly? A first round pick next year plus 34 for Schultz is good horse trading.
Richmond – consider yourself lucky I like you. Kosi could be good, but Ivan is a superior tap ruckman.
You’re slightly ahead of a team that got pick 25 and steak knives for a player “they really wanted to keep” but wasn’t best 22, only because – what else did they do?
16th Geelong – see above.
Adelaide – it’s a shame to lose both Doedee and McAdam. I don’t know what else to say. Dudded.
Sorry GWS, if you don’t play at all, you score 0.

Anything to Ginnivan dropping this video of Dan McStay and Kellie Drew as a parting gift?

I have the video, no idea if that’s her, or the back of his head.

Pretty crumby move, if true. Even if it was McStay that released the Ginnivan doing lines one earlier in the year.

Thanks. I suspected, but I had not heard anyone say it.

What are the rumours? I’ve heard nothing, scurrilous or otherwise.

Likewise, I do hope he’s okay, a head-knock warranting a scan sounds quite the fall.

Not sure retiring is walking out – we were pushing it to get that final year from Cotchin, and to his credit, he played well – not to his previous standard, but at a high level. Jack had definitely slowed over the past couple of years and had Lynch been available all year, we wouldn’t have had to rely on him as heavily. Thanking them both for their brilliant service over the years, they can now retire.
McQualter, I would have been happy with as coach – the board went another way, so he stepped aside to allow Adem to come in with his own philosophy. I guess that’s walking away, if you want to put a pejorative spin on it.
Dimma – nobody at Tigerland is begrudging that man anything. I’m not putting my head in the sand over whether he was burnt out, or just wanted a holiday before taking the Sun’s job, but good luck to him.

Will Hardwick being Suns’ coach change the positive vibe you have about them next year? I think he will do well. If not finals next year, then the year after for certain.

'Freo sure know how to lose them': Docker shocker as goalsneak requests trade to reigning premiers

I don’t know that Collingwood would trade McCreary for Shultz. That’s got to be the media in full flight.

'Freo sure know how to lose them': Docker shocker as goalsneak requests trade to reigning premiers

I understood his point immediately. If you want to return to Melbourne and still play AFL, perhaps going to a team that NEEDS you, rather than a team where they have a surfeit of similar players might be smarter. If Collingwood take him, who do they drop so he gets a game?

I agree, the personal back-stories do make for good reading, and the author has done a very good job here.

Well deserved.

Norm Smith Medal: Hill rises above the pack to boot Magpies to glory in outstanding performance

There’s something to what you say Peter – 29 degrees in the afternoon. When was Collingwood’s last daytime game? There was a twilight game in early August, then Freo mid-July? The Lions train in this weather, and I think that’s going to play a big part against a team that make a habit of coming back in the last quarter.
To respond to the lede – if you didn’t enjoy the 2020 GF (2 point difference at three quarter time before one team inexorably put the other away), you may not like what Saturday dishes up. Guess we’ll have to wait and see 😁
Good luck!

After years of blowouts and shockers, do we finally have an AFL Grand Final worth watching?

Collingwood definitely shoulder some blame – they sold the membership, they should ensure the allocation system is up to standard. Les, the AFL do so many other things wrong, this wouldn’t be the hill I’d pick. As to getting nothing besides the occasional GF ticket, tell that to displaced home-game members from other clubs.

The grand final ticketing debacle once again proves the AFL doesn't give a rat's about the fans
