Port Adelaide will aim to get on the winners’ list for the first time in 2022 when they host Hawthorn at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:40pm (AEDT).
The Power were left counting the cost from their narrow loss to Brisbane in Round 1, with reigning All Australian defender Aliir Aliir to miss an extended period with an ankle injury.
Robbie Gray has also been ruled out after suffering a knee knock, opening the door for former Lion Sam Skinner and highly rated draftee Josh Sinn to make their Power debuts.
Surprisingly, defender Trent McKenzie will be right to play despite suffering a seemingly serious knee injury late at the Gabba. With Hawthorn’s key forward pair of Jack Gunston and Mitch Lewis rampant against North Melbourne, he will need to be at his sharpest to hold them at bay.
The Hawks didn’t exactly do anything to suggest this season won’t be a developing one under new coach Sam Mitchell, but they did enough to take down fellow strugglers the Kangaroos despite missing a host of key players.
Gunston was awesome with three goals in his first game since 2020, and he could have had more were it not for some wayward kicking. At the other end of the ground, cult hero Changkuoth Jiath showed he is a bona fide star on the half-back line.
The Hawks regain captain Ben McEvoy for the trip to Adelaide, with he and veteran Luke Breust both coming in after missing Round 1 under the AFL’s COVID protocols. Surprisingly, triple-premiership player Liam Shiels has been omitted, while young ruckman Max Lynch will miss with concussion.

Not me, l just wanted to see a strong 4 quarter effort from them last night but didn't expect that. Have to enjoy them when we can this year, have no expectations this year so very happy with the result last night.

Still had 18 on the ground and 4 on the bench, just like you blokes In a way, I hope the Hawks were just that good, but I suspect it's as much of Port being bad as it was the excellent performance by your lads.

Injuries are hurting us, no doubt, but that wasn't the problem last night, there was still 18 blokes on the park for us. We have no forward line, they all run backwards towards goal, no one out of the square leading up and down the ground, no front and centre players. I was watching them just stand still in the forward line and was wondering how that's even possible in an elite sporting competition, U15's know you have to move up front, keep contesting while the ball's in the front half, it was embarrassing Why we'd keep bombing it in without Dixon there is bemusing, I don't understand how that happens. The tallest bloke in our backline last night was Ryan Burton, yet we've gotten rid on not only Howard, but Lienert as well, who's a blimmin good footy player and is 6"3'. None of it makes any sense, right back to Pittard and Jack Watts

Yeah, hope the injuries don’t cover over what problems really do exist.Decisions need to be made on and off the field .

No worries Pete. The new coach bounce is well and truly on with Mitchell, Voss and McRae all hitting the ground running. We just need to remember Adelaide made a storming start last season before fading so it's one week at a time for me.

Man, I couldn't disagree more, he's the worst footballer in the AFL. His job is to crash packs, take marks and kick goals, he doesn't ever even lead to the ball, to busy trying to be a small forward so he doesn't get hurt. He is an absolute spud, the worst player to ever play for the power
Brendon the 1st
Roar Rookie
That was a comment by Pete, nothing to do with anything the power said

I'm so angry Hub, he has to go. That was as pathetic a performance as you'll ever see. Time to make a change, otherwise this season is done
