Port Adelaide are eyeing a third win on the trot when they face an injury-plagued West Coast Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:45pm (AEST).

With pressure mounting on Ken Hinkley, the Power have kept the wolf from the door with consecutive gutsy wins over Sydney and the Western Bulldogs. Captain Tom Jonas returns from injury, while up the other end, spearhead Charlie Dixon’s absence opens the door for young forward Ollie Lord to make his debut.

The Eagles have as few as 24 fit players to choose from for this clash, according to coach Adam Simpson, with Elliot Yeo among the absentees after another groin injury in their loss to Geelong. However, captain Luke Shuey returns from a hamstring injury, as the Eagles aim to at least be competitive.

Bigtime man. Its horrible for him on many fronts, out of contract at the end of the year thats going to affect his next contract whether it's with us or say west coast. He may stay if we back him in and off a 2 or 3 year deal.

Worse fears confirmed, feel bad for him but opens up the door and gives Lord more gametime opportunities

Im hearing georgie wants to stay and work his butt off but if an offer comes in too good to refuse for him and us it may well be on the cards. With Jeremy playing so well I think its pushed georgie out too, definitely going to be interesting to see what we do as not all picks make it either so.letting somebody go over a untried player could be a huge risk but the future definitely looks rozee. See what I did there.lol.

Stuff shortening the quarters I wait to long for the season to be ripped off.lol. Ollie looked good bit nervous but otherwise fingers crossed looks like a find, can mark, works hard, likes physical stuff and for a big guy he's really good below the knees, geelong could come knocking for him I think hes a geelong boy. But I was impressed. Not sure how much he has rucked if at all but Charlie and Ollie in the same team going between ruck and forward would cause some headaches but im not big on Charlie full time rucking as his ankles are too dodgy. Teakle looked good in the ruck too not sure about hit outs etc.but he can move around the ground alot better than scooter.

Interesting to see what we do going forward in our forward line.Tom Scully was sometimes forecast to go earlier in the draft,he is 204cm and will probably grow a few more centimeters .He is raw and needs to bulk up some.He should be primed to go when Dixon is ready for retirement.I can see Scully at Full Forward .Ollie Lord has some mongrel in him and he could play CHF.Marshall could then become the 3rd tall option . Where does that leave Georgiades!! Kossie Pickett's future is key here I think. If he does leave Melbourne they say WA or SA his likely landing spot.Port will need a pick to satisfy the Demons if he comes over here.Port have no 1st round pick next year to haggle with which would mean a player would have to leave. Rozee Butters JHF and Kossie Pickett is a tantalising midfield group that could be together for the next 10 years.Getting Pickett would also allow Port not to offer Fantasia another contract, his body is not trust worthy. If Scully and Lord [with Marshall]can become the players to lead our forward line for the next 10 years that would off set the loss of Georgiades which might be required to get Pickett

Our last 2 games have gone down to the wire.2 come from behind victories the last against the Dogs in tough conditions.Ken Hinkley and Chris Scott are big advocates that the game is to long, quarters should be shorter .What did you think of Ollie Lords debut,he started really well.He should get another game next week with Marshall out with Concussion

Doable definitely. How many of the other teams have won all 4 quarters in your loses. It's hard in this game these days to be able to own a game for 100% of the time, thats why to me it's.mind blowing we.still.havent got a big shut down defender, team defence is great if your midfield can keep.presure.on and control the ball but to do it for 100% of a game is near impossible. Don't get me wrong a huge win would of been good, I don't think we ever got out of 2nd gear to be honest.

Surely against a bottom side it's doable. Port only lost one quarter after all.

Out of interest how many teams have won all 4 quarters in a game they've won this year and who was the opposition.?

After two tough as games against Sydney and Bulldogs, I'll take the 4 points and move on to next week. Would of 60 points plus been good, well of course but 4 points is 4 points. Surprising enough some of the numbers put up before the start of the game the old injured players may struggle to get back in to the Eagles at the moment the kids are beating last year's stats by quite a bit. Ollie Lord looked good couple of shanks but his competitiveness and his work when the ball is on the ground looks good for his size could be a perfect Charlie replacement. :boxing:

A lot of positives in a year of decimation . Eagles will be harder to kick soon when the prime movers are back in , mixed with the guts and grit of the kids who have grown a mile by necessity. Beware of the injured giant

Well it's not our fault we aren't a Melbourne club subject to the whims of the Melbourne press. At least you get the Grand Final at your home ground, when you make it. We get our fair share of criticism over Kelly etc plus the good old Cousins drug saga (thank goodness Rioli's gone). Richmond etc get a pass due to their injury list while the press looks at Gaff, Hurn, McGovern and Schuey and think ours is an aging, decrepit list needing a refresh (which is happening).

Third banana is probably putting in his best season yet, about time... Another 35 possessions again today. Williams played with a sore hamstring, career high for disposals and a good job in the ruck . Gaff looks past it,but Ginbey is the real deal. Allen dropped a few marks as did Waterman. At least one each were from having their arms chopped, but hey,"noise of affirmation" and all that. Enough to like, despair absent.

You might cop it locally but I doubt it's anywhere like Caro Wilson's long term campaign against Clarko and the club's trading out of Sam Mitchell, Jordan Lewis and more recently Tom Mitchell and Jaeger O'Meara. Caro's criticism has been overblown and subjective IMHO even though I respect the majority of her work. I've been critical of the incoming Wingard and O'Meara trades which were one-sided busts and ill-conceived by Clarko trying to avoid a rebuild esp. after losing Brad Hill and Cyril Rioli 'prematurely'.

There were a few nervous moments but I low key rate us against the Pies. Krueger will be fine as a stop gap but Drillips will stretch them

Your answer lies in geography. The Eagles get roasted in the Western press because that's where their fans (and clicks) are. Surprisingly, the Hawks get roasted in the Eastern press because (you can fill in the blanks). How long has the Hawks' injury list been over the last two seasons, perchance? We would also take our share of roasting for our results if we, by way of a completely unrelated example, traded out a promising halfback to say, a South Australian team for a mercurial forward-mid, and traded out a Brownlow medallist and his experienced midfielder partner in crime for mid-range picks, several seasons after shipping out our premiership-winning midfielder and halfback for some loose change picks. I also note that we have taken on a lot of roasting for taking on Geelong's 3rd banana midfielder for 4 picks, so I disagree with your take on the level of press criticism.

Bad luck matey. Would have liked to see how much Melbourne and Essendon moved respectively but just get better and do it after we belt Collingwood instead
