The St Kilda Saints will be out to break an eight-game losing streak against the Adelaide Crows, when the two face off at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Join The Roar for all the action, with live scores and a blog of the match starting at 4:35pm AEST.

St Kilda had their best victory yet last Saturday, a dominant 40-point win over the Melbourne Demons at the MCG.

It was a tight start, but the deadly accurate Saints piled on eight goals straight to kick away in the second and third terms.

Melbourne fought back as the Saints started to tire, but two late goals ensured the percentage-boosting win, a comprehensive and inspired team performance that was enjoyable for fans to watch.

Adelaide took on the Gold Coast Suns last Sunday, desperate for a win to re-start their season.

The early signs were sadly much of the same, poor disposal, slow game-plan and inaccuracy in front of goals, but whatever Don Pyke had to say to his team at quarter time worked a treat, as the Crows got going and kicked away.

In his 300th AFL game, creative forward Eddie Betts kicked six goals in Adelaide’s 73-point victory.

At selection on Thursday, both sides made just one forced change.

Saints captain Jarryn Geary will miss after a corked quad required surgery on Saturday night.

Geary remains in hospital and is expected to spend several weeks on the sideline recovering from the corky.

Daniel McKenzie, who missed last week’s win with concussion symptoms, has won the battle for the spot in the winning team.

Adelaide also have one change. Wayne Milera is out of the side with an AC joint injury, Myles Poholke will take his place.

Poholke impressed with four goals from 30 disposals in the Crows SANFL draw last weekend.

The last time these two met was over a year ago in round three, 2018. It was a competitive start, but the Crows ran away to a 49-point win in Melbourne.

Prediction
Everything says pick the Saints, they’re the feel-good story to start season 2019.

The exclusion of skipper Jarryn Geary might well be the game changer; this could be an inspired victory or a defensively-challenged loss.

It should be a close one, but expect the Adelaide Crows to continue the revival of their season and even the ledger at 3-3, with a win over the Saints.

Crows by 12 points.

Good to see coach Pike down in the trenches with the players rather than up in the stands. It looked as though the Saints were going to take the game away in the first quarter but the Crows responded with some fierce tackling. Even Taylor Walker was imposing himself. Some good signs but still a long way to go for the Crows. Liked the look of the three talls Keath, Himmelberg and O'Brien in the ruck.

The Adelaide Crows have defeated the St Kilda Saints by 29-points at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon. In a tight opening term, the Saints appeared to have the edge, leading inside 50s, but unable to convert on the scoreboard. They led by a goal at the first change. From the 11-minute mark of the second term it was all the Crows, a Riley Knight goal sparking a four-goal run and a dominant period for Adelaide. A couple of late goals by the Saints got the margin back to 13-points. Adelaide came out firing in the third term, kicking the first in just 17-seconds. St Kilda did well to make a contest of it and keep the deficit to two goals, within striking distance come the final term. The Crows stretched their lead out to 41-points at one point in the final term, dominant around the stoppage and out-working the Saints in the final 30-minutes. St Kilda kicked the last couple to get it back to a 29-point win for the Crows. Shane Savage (30 disposals) and Sebastian Ross (26 disposals, 8 clearances) were busy for the Saints. Matt Parker lit up the forward line with a couple of impressive marks; he finished the night with three goals. It was an otherwise tough afternoon for the Saints, who struggled to match the Crows in the air at both ends of the ground. Alex Keath (21 disposals, 14 marks) dominated across the backline, playing an intercepting role for the Crows. The Crouch brothers – Matt (36 disposals) and Brad (30 disposals) – were hard in around the contest, while Rory Laird had another 30+ disposal game. Taylor Walker kicked four goals, Lachlan Murphy three, and Elliott Himmelberg and Eddie Betts put two on the board each. It was a big day up forward for Adelaide, plenty of firepower there; they dominated in the air and put on runs of goals in the final three terms. Both sides had late exclusions today: St Kilda’s ruckman Rowan Marshall missed the clash, Billy Longer replaced him in the side. Bryce Gibbs (illness) did not travel to Melbourne, Jordan Gallucci took his place. St Kilda’s Jack Lonie hyper-extended his knee in the first half; the club is hopeful it is not an ACL injury, but they will sweat on scan results in the coming days. Next up for the Saints is a tough run, starting with a trip to Canberra to face the Giants on Saturday. The Crows will host Fremantle at Adelaide Oval late on Sunday. Final Score St Kilda 10.8. 68 Adelaide 15.7. 97

A lot of people listen to the media who pump up teams willy nilly so early in the season. I do not take notice of early form and only take notice of the ladder until after the byes and most teams have played one another.

It's still hard to work out where teams are at in 2019, but the ladder is slowly taking shape. The Crows are in the top-8 (for now) at 3-3. Keep sharing your thoughts and I'll post a match report shortly.

Brave call given the form line of most teams this season. They will trouble plenty of sides if injury doesnt get a hold of them like it did a bit today with Lonie's knee.

For all those that tipped the Saints and said their form was 'real' and not just based off a soft fixture, ready to admit you were wrong? First of 4 losses in a row.

Q4 1' - Goal Saints Crows turn it over exiting defensive 50, Gresham runs around a few, from the boundary! Now that's a pretty impressive goal to finish on for St Kilda, back to a 29-point margin. St Kilda 68 Adelaide 97

St kilda when the game was up for grabs weren't able to get any ascendancy and once the game opened up the crows looked the better. Signs are there for the saints just need better use going forward.
