The St Kilda Saints will hope to continue their surge against the limping Richmond Tigers in a Thursday night blockbuster at Marvel Stadium. Stay up to date with their AFL clash with live scores on The Roar from 7:20pm (AEST).
Staring down the barrel of a third loss in four matches, St Kilda found a whole new gear against West Coast last week, turning a 33-point third-quarter deficit into a rousing 20-point win. It was the first time all season the Saints had looked like their vastly-improved 2020 selves and they face a big test tonight as they look to replicate it.
Richmond come into tonight’s contest with a 2-2 record, but Damien Hardwick wouldn’t be panicking just yet. The 45-point loss to Sydney in Round 3 was poor, but they pushed Port Adelaide all the way last week despite missing several key players. The Tigers have recovered from slow starts before, but falling to 2-3 would make things more difficult than they’d like.
These sides met twice last season, with the Saints getting up by 26 points in Round 4, but the Tigers triumphing by 31 points in the semi-final. Richmond have won five of the last six meetings between these teams and 11 of the last 14, dating back to 2012.

Round 16, 2017, Saints destroy Richmond by 10 goals. Saints don’t make the 8 That Year - Tigers go onto winning the Premiership. All I say is see how they go with a full team

Missing players doesn't excuse the disgraceful effort the Saints put in though. And look at how GWS has done the last two weeks with a significant number of best 22 players missing.

A player can't cling onto something that happened 5 years ago. Tiges fans do but that says more about them than those living in 2021. Last night's disposal numbers is in exact parity with his 2020 numbers. This is the new normal for Dusty.

does not, or did not? me, I think back to 2016 where he was a year ahead of the game plan, he was hitting balls to where people should have been. 12 months later, they were on hs wavelength last night, with the game pretty safe, i suspect he was experimenting with all sorts of Martini geometry that we mere mortals can't hope to interpret.

As Jack Dyer would say ‘Houli’, ‘he was a good average player ‘ at the bombers. They didn’t think anything of him when he left. Now he is a champion. Well Chucky swap him for Broad - pick 60 something. Nank was like Marbs today, 3rd in line. If you like, pop George in there, late 20’s pick. How about Mansell, trained down at North and slipped through. Yep Tigs took the risk with Pickett and Stack. No top 10 picks amongst the dirty dozen.

How about if he did a Dangerfield shirtfront?

Does it seem like that to you? I think you'll find that "those who understand football" have worked out that the best disposals are those that go to teamates' advantage. Dusty does not do that well. That's why I point it out.

Yep they were in the top six without any major rivalries like the derbies so they do

I think Carlton have the problem of such a negative culture over the past two decades since the salary cap nightmare

Houli wasn’t rejected by the bombers dude, neither was Nank. I’d also say that Pickett had actual concerns around his character as well after what happened in that Nathan krakouer doco about ten years ago.

Damien Hardwick has become a moneyball style coach in my opinion.

Well given the bombers beat the saints by 75 as well I don’t think you can read too much into it haha

Silly saints I really don’t want to have to move Collingwood up in my power rankings

I think it’s a perfectly valid criticism of the eagles performance. It was positively putrid
Charlie Keegan

Well that and the rule changes do not suit the saints that’s for sure. But I think that odds are big max king will end up requesting a trade to Gold Coast haha

I think you meant to say that Tigers are too good.....

It's almost like disposal efficiency is a garbage statistic that people who have no idea about football like to hang their hat on.

The Oracle just backs up my theory that first and second round draft picks and success are a myth .Good recruiting and player development by Richmond .A very under rated person in footy is Neil Balme think he has been involved in six flags this century .
