Why do you say that?

Is Opening Round actually a good idea by the AFL after all?

Not anymore….that’s ancient history.
Now it’s Ninthton!!!!
After all they are the incumbent!

It’s common knowledge that the game was stolen from the Tigers. Not a regular watcher of AFL?

Daicos tag the first of many, Port's ruck conundrum and more: Talking points from AAMI Community Series Day 1

Tigers took 5 very talented players under pick 30 in the 2021 draft. Do a bit of research and have a look at them.
Along with Taranto and Hopper we have another handy “recruit” whose had a great pre-season and is ready to fire…..a bloke called Dustin Martin!

The dynasty is far from over: count Richmond out at your peril

It wasn’t just that they lost, Cat, it was how badly they were beaten. We’re on the eve of the real stuff and even with most of their Premiership 22 playing, Brisbane smashed them! There were quite a few Cat Supporters getting ahead if themselves last week and this is a dose of reality that this season will be very different for them.
Oh, and when were you appointed sole spokesperson for all Roar Posters? 😁

I think Samson Ryan, a very exciting young Ruck/Forward, who stands at 206cm, is very mobile, in his 3rd year at the Club, is developing very nicely is probably ahead of Colina and will play games this season. He is symbolic of the depth of young talent at Richmond that those on the outside just don’t see. 2022 was a much better Season than it appeared to be and I firmly believe that had the Tigers not been robbed of their Elimination Final victory by the AFL (you’re in our sights Brad Scott) they would have played (and beaten) the Cats in an epic Prelim. (Because the Cats are our Finals Bunnies)

If there is a weakness, it may be that we lack possibly one key tall defender, with options currently comprising of Grimes, Balta, Tarrant, Gibcus, Broad & Miller. I’m not convinced that Tarrant is the player he once was and Broad has never been required to stand the oppositions best tall forwards which leaves that task to Grimes, Gibcus, Balta & Miller. The latter 3 are talented and will be mainstays in defence for the next decade, but are they ready for the task this year? Hopefully.

The amazing mix of youth and experience at Tigerland, however, is what will go along way to potentially delivering yet another Premiership in 2023.

The Lions showed last night that, at best, the Cats are just one of many contenders for this year’s flag. They got lucky, not having to face the Tigers in the finals last year but this year there will be no place to hide. The Cats are the hunted and we’re all coming for you!

Right now, there is only one club like that,……and that’s Freo! Both here and in the stadiums.

Is Dangerfield the best pick for Cats captain?

Flopperfield/Stagerfield is how most will remember him.
Cotchin will be remembered as one of the greatest and most successful Captains to have played the game.

Your scars run deep, Diz!

Is Dangerfield the best pick for Cats captain?

Yeah, I guess with that description Cotchin is more like Dangerfield….but much more humble and definitely alot more successful!!

Is Dangerfield the best pick for Cats captain?

I was at that game last year and was pretty angry with Stewart at the time, because in the end it cost Richmond the game, but I accept that it was an out of character act by Stewart. I just think, he has a better Captain’s demeanour than Dangerfield. Very much in the Cotchin mould.

Is Dangerfield the best pick for Cats captain?

Doesn’t need validation, its called an opinion and I’m glad you’ve been able to learn a new word Uncle Bobby.

Is Dangerfield the best pick for Cats captain?

As I’ve mentioned previously, it’s a poor choice in my books. Stewart would have been a much better option as he generally shows humility, whereas Danger often struggles to keep his ego in check which often clouds his judgement and causes him to do and say things that are not aligned with good leadership.
Stewart really was the obvious choice, however Scott is clearly completely in Dangers thrall.

I’m happy to take responsibility for being in agreement with you, but only if you do the same!
I know the pressure is on Carlton big time this year but you really need to relax Macca, and not get in such a lather, the Season hasn’t even started yet! 😁

You’ve got yourself in quite a twist there Macca. Just read my first comment in this thread again and that’ll clear things up for you.
It’s simple really and I’m not sure why you’re struggling to comprehend. Carlton can have” a steely resolve to never let such disappointments occur again”. (as Pete said) but it’s still entirely possible that Carlton will finish Ninth again this Season because their destiny is not totally in their control.
Losing Round 1 to the Tigers will hurt their chance, albeit not fatally, but hopefully Walsh gets back ASAP to save their Season.

Not sure I follow. You’re over complicating something that’s pretty straight forward Macca…..a bit like Carlton last year.

Not according to Don! 😁

We’re you taught miscomprehension at school by Don?
“Not totally in Carlton’s contol” were my words, which obviously also means that their destiny was partly in Carlton’s control.
Could be a big problem for the Blues this year if they follow your logic and not accept any responsibility for last year’s failures.

Lol…..bit like you and Macca! 😉

You’re the Ninth Place holders Macca, no-one else is….face up to it, embrace it! 😁

There was a similar sentiment regarding the Cats last year and didn’t they prove the doubters wrong.
Watch out for our new “recruit”…..a guy called Dustin Martin! 😁
