As Roy and HG once stated, BT commentates like he’s not even at the ground and is watching a different game …

I enjoy Kelli too. She has a very soothing tone, which is important. Selwood doesn’t have the voice… it’s an irritating tone. Jim is probably my favourite commentator of the past 20 years. He has the balance right, he’s humble, knowledgeable and most importantly, makes other commentators around him better, as he leads them well into conversations. He also knows when to shut up and let the sport he’s commentating on shine…. something Richie did best. Dermott I can safely say is the worst commentator going around. It’s fecking awful listening to him.

Yet Eagles have just as much youth as GC.

He pulls the old 'irony' bull when he knows he got it wrong.

'Talk less, please!' Most commentators of all sport talk too much and get too analytical especially the ex-players who often seem determined to make everyone aware of their expertise. Ricky Ponting, Lleyton Hewitt, Roger Rasheed, Ian Thorpe, Cameron Ling including the recently arrived Joel Selwood and Jack Riewoldt who seem to be falling into the same trap, all spring to mind. Exceptions - in my humble opinion - who keep it simple yet interesting are Jim Courier, Richo and Luke Hodge. Much as I hate to acknowledge it, Eddie Mcguire, was smooth and to the point and easy to listen to. I also happen to like Kelli Underwood for her enthusiasm, great aussie accent and - yes - the odd howler. Much prefer that to the showy expertise of those mentioned above. But my AFL favourite is Hamish McLachlan. Missing him this season. Apart from his commentary, his interviews with the kids are wonderful.

See above. No irony emoji available sadly. Sydney will do well. They fought valiantly in their meritorious victory against the Eagles who may yet prove to be a barometer for other sides.

For someone who urges politeness in posts, you have little self awareness. Perhaps I should included the context filter, the irony antennae and cognition awareness metrics. And this from someone whose avatar reeks of nepotism .

Don You could be on the money Eagles are a big chance against Suns, Suns are very young and if nothing else eagles have plenty of experience

The team that you call “past it” is sitting second on the ladder.

About the first thing we’ve ever agreed on.

Clarkson, Mitchell and Hardwick can luxuriate in the press they get over east; meanwhile, Simmo just rolls up his sleeves and works to change things. GC should be a top 4 side. When you consider how hard WC pushed Sydney 3 games ago and what Sydney just did to GC, West Coast could be favourites to go 3 straight next week. Dom Sheed and Liam Ryan back too.
