You certainly lost out with the Neale/Hogan three way deal.
Neale has gone on to lead the Lions into the top four, in contention for the Brownlow.
Hogan spent his summer in pubs, came in underdone, reinjured his foot.
Just a distaster.
Brad Hill is happy in W.A but he did say that his wife misses her family in Victoria and goes home as much as she can.
I think Kelly will remain at Geelong but if he does choose to leave could it be a straight swap for B. Hill?
Last year we turned only 2 draft picks and Lachie Neale into a pick in each of the first 5 rounds, Hogan, Lobb, Colyer (oh, well) and picked up Conca. We can certainly afford to do that again.
By the way, an anti-Ross petition has been circulating for 2 years now. 1500 signatures...out of 50,000 plus members! Hardly a compelling protest.
Midfield for sure. He's no half forward. I hope they both stay and in an ideal world we get Kelly so Fyfe can play forward much more often. Was actually thinking Cerra and McCarthy if he can get for enough on the wings coz of their field kicking I50. It all depends on whether they stay or go.
My goodness. Why would Freo want to get rid of him? I expect we will re-contract him through the course of next season.
With Freo favoured to win 4 of the last 5 games, there's another finals appearance. You have seen who has been unavailable this season. At the moment there are 8 players over 193cm unavailable...and yet, we sit above teams that many seem to think are better than Freo.
This is an outstanding coaching performance.
AD, was speaking to someone the other day…. blah, blah, friend of so and so (actually true)… the Hill brothers are very happy and settled in Perth, and no desire to move.
It would have to be a very attractive offer to uproot the Hill boys I would think given there isn’t a desire to leave.
Not sure Freo is committed to Lyon out of belief he can coach the team to success... I think Freo is hoping StK or Carlton can provide a smooth exit for Lyon, and we don't have to payout his final $1mil year. Freo is showing no interest in extending his contract, that speaks volumes in itself. We lost Neale, we can't afford to lose more talent.
I said to Matti somewhere that I don’t know if the Pies are the best fit for Ed. Apparently Melbourne are the favourite but why on earth join Melbourne? I’d love Hill though. You can have Crocker for him? He is a good player but will struggle to hold his spot if we ever get all our players back.
There's been rumours about Langdon's departure for yonks; last year he was certain to head back to Collingwood to play with his brother, from memory. He's turning into a gem (with some iffy disposal). If we lose him, we lose him, but obviously I'd prefer not to.
Brad Hill would be the hugely damaging loss. Honestly, if he went I'd be a little annoyed at the lad, why come back to WA for family reasons only to bail a couple of years later?
Certainly not the result of not being in their forward line. You don't kick 2.19 from being in the back line all the time.
Cliches and anti-Lyon sentiment are not the best sources of information.
So you blame Ross for Hawthorn and Geelong having 'ordinary days'?
Surely you'd either blame their coaches or praise Ross for making their days so 'ordinary'.
You defeat your own argument.
He got it wrong that day only giving Luke Ball 50% of the game time despite no injury and being one of the best on ground.
It's why he's not in that top tier of current coaches and has never won anything. Geelong had an ordinary day in 09 (much like Hawthorn in 2013) but couldn't capitalise. Self-sabotage.
A GT coached side would have beaten Geelong by 5 goals.

So if he doesn't win 4 of the last 5 he's failed to reach par?

I wish I could share your optimism of 4 victories in the next 5 games.

Cerra is a pure inside mid imo

I agree a big loss but if He wants to move back to Victoria it's a great way to get Kelly to the club. I think Cerra is ideal for the wing.

Would be overs and crippling to the midfield, wouldn’t be trading Brad hill if I was Freo. A Stephen is a fa so he can go to GCS for nothing anyway.

Trading them both to Geelong for Tim Kelly would be a great result. With S Hill to GC for a 1st rounder would work too.

Two more players want out of Freo apparently. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2019/07/23/report-dockers-midfield-duo-will-request-trades-to-victoria

I guess that is why they have skyrocketed up to 17th for "Points For" this season? Only above the dismal GC
