It's up to the players if they want to dissuade elbows in the contacts.

The unwritten code at the moment is this sort of thing is not too bad, not common but maybe just a bit over the edge depending on the outcome. Sort of a blurry area that confuse some players. There is also the culture of name players receiving preferential treatment and that comes into play with Toby Green. Mindreading is what we do and Toby had a mind to hurt. Not too bad though as he is expert. You could say he is the players definition of rough niggle that is acceptable. He didn't think it out in words in the split second that's not how the creative mind works. It's an instant mental picture image of elbow to contact with minimal force so as not to hurt too much. It's a beautifully executed piece of niggle. Designed to hurt but not harm and appearing to be a football act while really a non football act. Put all this in the smokescreen confusion of tribunals and the like and Toby is a free man. It was intentional to elbow contact but will probably be seen as careless or even accidental.

Using an elbow is the dirtiest thing you can do in Aussie rules. Replay clearly shows it was intentional... it was down, he lashes out, hits Danger in the throat.. then comes down.
Disgusting. He should be getting six weeks for that.
You could literally kill a person doing that. When is he ever going to get the message?

Yeah the impact grading will be interesting. Given Danger ended up at hospital they could make it severe which is three weeks. Location of impact probably makes it a bit unlucky. Could be anywhere from fine to 3 weeks. Who knows what will happen !!
Cant argue with careless or reckless i don't think, just not intentional. 100% another round of chook lotto at the tribunal.lol. best case I think a high fine, worst case probs 3 weeks, another wise probs a week or maybe 2.
Still think the intent to raise the elbow is careless or reckless. One week is appropriate. But then the AFL have been soft on elbows for whatever reason so he might get off altogether.

Deliberate makes it sound like his soul intention was to hit Danger in the throat which even at his worst i don't think he'd intentionally do that in a footy game.lol. actually stupid random question I think I've heard before that toby has actually done or does some form of martial arts or that may of been somebody else.
Think the term is careless rather than accidental. While it probably falls just short of intentional, I think they used to have a grading of reckless which would have been appropriate.
You can also do what he did to try and fend off to give yourself separation between the player, yourself and the ball. Still don't think in that split second he thought hey watch this and purposely aimed for his throat and if so, he should be disappointed with himself, as danger could still breathe.lol.
