Is Zach Merrett in strife for this rib-tickler that sent Silvagni to hospital?

When the bloke you’ve hit misses the rest of the match, it might spell trouble…

the AFL places far too much weight on the action not the result. If he doesn’t break a rib, neither player gets suspended, my point is that every time that action happens now a player should get suspended or fined otherwise its deliberate targeting of merrett

Didn’t look to be much in it but obviously there was. One week probably a fair result.

An innocuous ( not harmful or injurious) action that resulted in a player coughing up blood, bruised lung, fractured rib and spending a night in hospital. So you are allowed to deliberately hit players anywhere on their body with a clenched fist.

LOL, "unfortunate" "innocuous" he punched someone hard enough to break a rib - lucky to be getting just 1 week after a generous "careless" grading. The bombers can't get the intent downgraded, it was clearly high impact and clearly to the body - how do you see it ending in a fine.

Which will be appealed and down graded to a fine. It’s an innocuous action, that unfortunately resulted in Jack silvagni coughing up blood

If he isn't then something is very wrong with the system

Rib-tickler, broken rib and spitting up blood from a busied lung, I watched the game and thought nothing of it, but the Match Review may put Zach (The Sniper) Merrett may out Zach for 1 to 4 weeks, based on the medical report and the fact the player didn’t return to the game and may miss 2 weeks.
