It’s the end of the road for David Warner as the Benaud-Qadir Trophy wraps up with the New Year’s Test match Sydney, as Australia seek a series clean sweep over Pakistan. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 10:30am (AEST).
All eyes will be on Warner as the boy from Matraville plays his final Test for Australia.
The hosts were given an almighty scare in Melbourne before Pat Cummins stood up with a captain’s spell to extend Pakistan’s losing streak down under to 16 Tests on the trot.
The batting is a concern, with Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith and Travis Head failing to put up big scores at the MCG.
Shan Masood has shown his strong tactical nous which gives Pakistan hope for the long term. The skipper has backed his words of playing aggressive cricket, but his team will need him to convert his starts.
With Imam-ul-Haq struggling to score at a strike rate over 32 and an average below 25 this series, youngster Saim Ayub will make his debut at the SCG. Strike bowler Shaheen Afridi has also been rested for the clash, with Sajid Khan coming in to give Masood a front-line spin bowling option.
Prediction
Chances of rain have gone lower for days 1-4, but history always shows the Sydney Test is a danger of having a few sessions at least wiped out entirely.
Both teams could try to force a result with an approach similar to Bazball should rain come into play, but you would expect Australia to start as favourites.
Rain to play spoilsport and make it a draw or an Australia win on day five.

Shocking commentator is Langer. He and Haydos are embarrasssing. The only good thing about 7s telecast is Punter.

Hahahaha you're kidding right? Sounds like you're a warm cup of milk and bed before 9pm kinda guy. They knocked over the top order and then were smashed around the park against the last 5 wickets. How many times did we see it in England this dumb bowl bouncers at the tail every ball doesn't work! Maybe once in a blue moon it does but overall is a terrible tactic. Back in your box you go softy hahahahaha.

You wouldn't want Mr Digit Umpire Billy from NZ. I thought it was a congenital condition but he just does it?

Not today. In 2 or 3 years. Their young age, Shield wickets, best bowling figures and selections in Australia under 19's, PM's XI teams say they are the future.

STUMPS DAY ONE: Australia 0/6 - trailing by 307 What an action packed day. From being 5/96 to 9/227, it was Aamer Jamal who stood up under pressure and kept Pakistan in the game. A touch of luck for Warner in the lone over he faced before stumps, but there were some good signs as well. Day two is set to be a brilliant day.

Strange old day. The pitch looks a bit dead. Number 9 batsman the player of the day. And it hasn't even rained at the SCG (yet). Cheers, Arnab.
