Bangladesh are up 2-0 in the five-match T20 series against Australia and will be looking to wrap up the series tonight. Join The Roar for live scores from 10pm (AEST).
Australia showed improvement with the bat in the second T20, but their execution in the final six overs was way off the mark as they finished with a below-par 121 in their allocation of 20 overs.
Mitchell Marsh continues to score runs at number three, which is a positive sign for Australia. However, both Marsh and Moises Henriques threw away their starts and there were no set batsmen for Australia in the death overs.
Should Australia bat first again, one of their set batsmen cannot throw away their start regardless of the situation. With Australia’s middle order susceptible on slower surfaces, they have to have a set batsman to bat as deep as possible – even if that means scoring a run a ball until the 19th over begins.
Despite being 2-0 up, Bangladesh’s openers will want to improve on their showings from the first two games. Mohammad Naim has faced 42 deliveries in the series, yet has only scored off under 40 per cent of those balls, putting unnecessary pressure on his partner Soumya Sarkar, who has unsurprisingly struggled to do well on slower wickets in Dhaka, to catch up with the run rate.
Both players will be looking to show more intent with the bat and give Bangladesh a better start for their middle order to cash in on in the latter stages.
Both teams have bowled well and neither side will tinker with their bowling line-up. However, ESPN Cricinfo Bangladesh correspondent Mohammad Isam reported Mitchell Starc bruised his hip during the second T20 but should be fine for the third T20.
Should he miss out, then Mitchell Swepson should replace Starc while Ben McDermott may replace Alex Carey at the top of the order.
There are scars within the Aussie batting line-up on how they approach their batting on slower wickets with not much pace. Unless a fresh, flat wicket is put up, Bangladesh come into the third T20 as favourites as they should end up as victors to take an unassailable 3-0 lead.
First ball: 10pm (AEST)
Venue: Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka
Odds: Australia $1.52, Bangladesh $2.54 (odds via PlayUp)

If i am not making mistake, i believe Bangladesh have won series against New Zealand, South Africa, England as well as India before?

Possibly. Although as much as I think Smith is pushing the envelope to be selected in our best XI, he probably actually fills that grafter role - what Smith has going for him is just a mountain of international experience/match awareness which gets him over the line for me re that number 4/5 spot compared to the other supposed up and comers.

Add Tye to that list and we fully agree. I want to know from you, Jeff, don't you think Australia needs a grafter like Handscomb or Silk in that no 5 or 6 position. Both of them play spin pretty nicely and they are both gun in the field. Handscomb can keep too.

I wouldn’t have Christian, Henriques, McDermott or supposed captain-in-waiting Carey, anywhere near our first choice side.

I reckon the WC batting line up will look a lot different. Marsh can hold his head up high at least. Shame he gets left with having to go high risk at the end of every game. The rest of them only need to score a run a ball, but even that’s beyond them. Still, this Bangladesh bowling unit knows how to exploit their home conditions.

Not in this thread. It was before the West Indies series. A lot of people here championing for him, labelling him better than Stoinis, Sams. He is the best finisher in Australia, things like that. But players like him, Henriques, Tye -they have never stepped up in international level and at 35, 38 why selectors think they will?

unfortunately things won't change. Australia will pick the same bunch of players, employing the same tactics, won't do anything to improve their ability against spin and Langer will come out with his motivational crap that there are plenty of positives even in these defeats. I am really getting tired of Australian cricket.
Jeff

Really. I didn’t see any comments giving Christian support.
Jeff
Roar Rookie
Yep. And mostly surrounded by the same in this line up.

I mean, we're only 4 wickets down FFS!! But well done to BD once again. Choked, then suffocated Australia. And then ran them over with a steamroller for good measure.

BANGLADESH WIN BY 10 RUNS AND WIN THE SERIES. Oh boy what a bowling performance by the Tigers. To hold their nerve when Australia needed 60 off 48 is extraordinary. Openers need to bat better but they won't care. A series win against a SENA nation is massive for Bangladesh

There were plenty of love for Christian here. But he is a poor player like he always was. Whose idea was it to send him before Turner?

I still cant believe it.

Christian is a mediocre player, always has been. You are talking as if he is an Andre Russel or Andrew Symonds. Just check his international record. He has scored 75 runs from 22 matches. He is awful alongside Henriques and few others
