Bangladesh cricketers have been forced to flee after getting caught up in a mass shooting in a Christchurch Mosque.

Police have cautioned people to remain indoors in Christchurch after a gunman is understood to have opened fire in a Mosque.

The Bangladesh players, who have been touring New Zealand were scheduled to play in the third and final Test of their series this weekend, escaped unharmed.

The Test has now officially been cancelled in wake of the incident.

Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal tweeted that the team was safe, but conveyed his horror at the scenes.

At this stage, it remains unclear how many people have been killed or seriously injured.

This is horrendous. What the hell is wrong with these maniacs. It puts all our petty sport related squabbles into perspective.

They shouldn’t have to play tomorrow if they don’t want.

From what I can hear Tamim's saying in Bangla - brother you can't believe what we saw it's just horrifying. If the players aren't mentally ready for tomorrow, I hope the ICC don't force them to. Probably the biggest cricket-related terror attack since Lahore 09.
