Kid should know better by now. That being said, when test cricket is struggling for relevance this won’t do it any good. Apparently verbally abusing a batsman to unsettle them is ok... not even in the heat of the moment (no demerit points) how does what Buttler said to Philander compare
If he had continued along his original line he could have celebrated all he wanted without a problem. However, he chose to change direction and head towards the batsman to get in his space. That’s the issue, and he has been warned about it on numerous occasions.
He’s a serial offender who’s been warned on numerous occasions about changing direction to get in a batsman’s face after dismissing him. If you let this stuff go then sooner or later a batsman will react, and then what? Don’t forget that Root had been battling away out there in the exact same conditions, is it ok for him to get in Robada’s face after cracking him through the covers for 4?
Totally serious. He isn't being suspended for this offence, he's being suspended for doing this 4 times in 2 years.
He dodged a bullet in Jo'burg (which directly lead to the ball tampering fiasco, IMO) so it's good that his behaviour has caught up with him.
Celebrations are one thing but send-offs are not OK. They are cowardly and there is nothing worse than compounding the awful feeling of getting out than having a bowler gloating and shoving it down your throat. It’s the sort of thing that can easily provoke a violent reaction which is what the rule talks about. Whether Rabada was celebrating or getting close to a send off is a matter of judgement. He probably got too close to Root’s space as he was walking off - should have avoided that. But remember, this was an accumulation of points, the third or fourth time he’d been warned about it.
Didn't this same body deem premeditated ball tampering only worthy of two matches?
Sure, the celebration may be a little overzealous, but so is the reaction
It wouldn't be an issue if he moved a few metres off the pitch like other bowlers and did it, it's poor sportsmanship doing it right in the batsmans face. The people here defending it would have the pitchforks out if an Aussie did it.
This is seriously off. We want more passion in test cricket, not less of it. Has been a really good series so far and the fact that the ICC would devalue the 4th test by removing Rabada is mind boggling. Literally their only job is to look after the game of cricket and they're actively making it worse in so many ways
What a load of trash. If all things were equal, Dale Steyn would hardly have played a game…. Oh and Buttlers seriously over the top abuse of Philander got him a teeny fine. Get real…. Oops he said sorry after the game.. That makes it all OK.
How can you be serious? He's bowled all day in really humid weather, got the English captain out in a really big wicket, and screamed in elation. Not even at Root. No one who feels the ups and downs of test cricket could seriously argue this is a ban able offence. Do you feel no emotion watching test cricket?
I get the feeling the majority of people who don't like seeing Rabada celebrate are also not fans of Jofra Archer

He hasn't served it yet. Some biased SA judge with no clue about cricket will get him off like last time.

If that's your exact and considered opinion on 'how it is', it's at best incomplete, and at worst, completely naive.

So if batsmen go charging towards bowlers after they hit them for a four or six you'd be ok with it?

I was hardly insinuating. I said it exactly how it is.

Not true at all. Mitchell Johnson in 13/14 made me remember how much I love aggressive bowlers

As much as I dislike Rabada’s ban, I dislike your petty and unnecessary Buttler reference, with all it’s possible snarky insinuations, even more.

Good. Only two years too late.
