The Brisbane Broncos and Canterbury Bulldogs clash at Suncorp Stadium in a match will have a serious impact on the 2020 NRL wooden spoon. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:30pm (AEST).

Safe to say 2020 hasn’t gone to plan for either of these sides. The two have combined for a grand total of one win since the competition restart, and the pressure on both coaches is growing by the day.

Anthony Siebold in particular is facing ever-increasing scrutiny about his job security in Brisbane, the 2-0 start to the season now a distant memory truly obscured the side’s six losses on the trot. The furore around Dean Pay’s future might not be quite as extreme, but regardless, both coaches will be desperate for a win today.

Siebold has some good news at least in the expected return of Kotoni Staggs, whose last appearance came in the Broncos’ best recent performance, their narrow Round 5 loss to Manly. He’s expected to come into the centres after being named in the extended reserves, which would see Jamayne Isaako miss out and Herbie Farnworth moved out wide.

There’s also a reshuffle up front, with Tevita Pangai Jr moving to the front row and Corey Oates into the second row.

The Bulldogs weren’t helped by Adam Elliott’s mid-week injury diagnosis, a dislocated shoulder ruling the lock out for an extended period. UK signing Luke Thompson will take his place in the starting side.

Yeah agree. There's a few decent options ahead of him now. He might make a good fullback with a bit of maturity.

it's a win and maybe it restores some spirit. But the attack was a couple kicks and TPJ coming up with the miracle play. Playing weaker teams doesn't stress test the defense. And Glenn's a blow (decent tackles, and you probably burn an interchange as the other edge options don't play his minutes). You feel for the guy. He gets handed the captaincy, gets injured, endured 6 losses and then get injured again. It's like he's cursed. As for the bulldogs, the british import looked strong and aggressive. But after the initial barrage, the forwards were probably run ragged (unless Napa and Jackson are injured or in decline). None of the forwards managed 100m despite possession being more or less equal at end of play.

Thanks fellas. I hope he gets that D in his game. Exciting talent with gifts you can’t teach. Learns things quickly IMO.

Well done Broncos. Getting the win and some points will certainly help the players and supporters out of the repetitive criticism for a while. I don’t care to much for my southern brothers especially when my team is on life support but I hope it gets them headed in the right direction again. Don’t be to hard on Pay Doggie supporters, he inherited a bit of a dog’s breakfast and you will have plenty of coin to reinvigorate the team very soon. At least you’re coach hasn’t flushed your team down the toilet like my over paid one has.

Pay could pay for that loss.

Origin talk is very premature with him. He makes some mistakes in defensive reads at the moment. I am sure that will improve though. He should be a lock for the wing in a year or two.

Then gives away two or three penalties to finish the game. Classic TPJ.

Tbf I don’t think that’s entirely his fault. That right side seemed to be short every time the ball got spread out that way which would point to the defensive structure.

Scored one Rob and nearly got a second with a jump for a kick but he bobbled it. Though he was pretty good but I didn't see the whole game.

ABC commentators have been bagging TPJ out all game. Using the same sort of comments you would see on here.

Most their tries came down his side. He does need work there. Scored a ctach-n- put down.

I won't pretend it was the greatest game but it's a win. For all his faults TPJ is MoM tonight. Seibold changed up his bench rotation which has results of the best fresh troops on at vital times. Hard luck Dogs fans, someone had to win. Crispy, sing it loud mate. Enjoy the couch..

Didn't play well but might give yas some confidence. TPJ throught the middle was excellent. Looks like he should be playing there in future.

Probably, but there’s no inherent potential in the 9 7 or 1 just for starters..
