The Canterbury Bulldogs battle the South Sydney Rabbitohs in a traditional Good Friday clash. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4:05pm (AEDT).

The entire football community is celebrating the return of crowds to the NRL and this match-up between two of the competition’s most famous clubs will no doubt bring even more excitement to what has already been an entertaining 2021.

Canterbury come into the match with no form, little hope and facing a season destined to disappoint. The fans are grumpy, their hopes curtailed and the chances of the Bulldogs playing finals are slim at best.

Struck with a number of injury concerns and without captain Josh Jackson, they face a unchanged South Sydney side, confident after their 26-16 win over the Roosters last weekend.

The Bulldogs are none from three and the Rabbitohs enter the contest two and one and will be keen to establish themselves securely in the top eight with a dominant win this afternoon.

Supercoach Wayne Bennett will be looking for a clinical performance against one of the competition light weights and Trent Barrett will be hoping to extract something far better from his side than what they have produced in the first three weeks of play.

Prediction
The Bunnies could and should win this by 40. I’ll tip a 46-12 win in the favour of the cardinal and myrtle.

Manly only have Turbo and DCE and if they are injured or MIA then you can throw Manly in the same boat. They have no forwards and no hooker/dummy half.

Those players will help them avoid the spoon. I cant see where the Cows or Dogs win a game, even against each other. That might be the first NRL nil all draw

A game of “sacked coach bingo” while we are waiting for the next game to commence. Last season, 5 coaches faced the firing squad. How many will it be this year?

Oh, I know that feeling! Too many years following the Bunnies stuck in the abyss really had a detrimental effect on my liver I can tell you.

Even for the win over Souths? Yeah, that rings a bell. So Georgallis got shafted then! He deserved a shot I think. Thanks for clearing that up. That could have been embarrassing if that gaff was public!

I'm just happy that Souths line wasn't crossed... it wasn't tested much either to be honest.

Yes Rellum. When Turbo returns, and they start playing some of their players in the correct positions Manly will improve, but they don't have the forwards to go with most of the sides in the NRL and will still finish well outside the top 8. They still need to improve a lot to avoid the bottom 4 at this rate.

They brought it on themselves BD. The FOX Sports commentary team discussed this saying the Dogs are that desperate to slow down the speed of Souths play the ball and attack they were walking a fine line on giving away six agains and that is why they keep getting pinged.

All teams come good eventually. Hang in there. Rabbitohs have been through their fair share of valleys before they got to climb the mountain. The Foxx and Burton will big a big step forward in 2022 for the Dogs. The Dogs desperately need a good hooker/dummy half though. That is a must! As Stalinski said (above) Benji is unsigned for next year.

Don't even joke about that Nat. I'd rather a QLD clean sweep in Origin this year. My nerves and blood pressure can't take that.
