Round seven of NRL action begins in Brisbane as the Dolphins take on South Sydney Rabbitohs at Suncorp Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.50pm AEDT.
The high flying Dolphins created history after conjuring up their first victory in a Queensland derby last week against the Cowboys. Sitting comfortably at fourth early into the season, Wayne Bennett will want his boys to continue their great start and continue causing shockwaves in the NRL.
Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Jamayne Isaako are playing arguably the best footy in their careers so far, and are definitely the two key players for the Dolphins. Skipper Jesse Bromwich is back from illness, while Jarrod Wallace will miss the clash due to concussion protocols.
The Rabbitohs have had an inconsistent season so far, failing to win two matches in a row this season so far. Latrell Mitchell turned it up for his 150th NRL game, but he will need to match that level once again if he is to get one over his opposition fullback and help the Rabbitohs stick to a winning streak.
The Rabbitohs will be buoyed with the inclusion of Alex Johnston and Jai Arrow in the starting team, improving the Rabbitohs team available.
The game will be won in the halfback battle between Isaiya Katoa and Lachlan Ilias. Katoa has not had the start to first grade rugby league he would have liked, but the potential is there to fire as he continues to progress. Ilias showed great resilience last year and got back to some form last week. With the way the Dolphins have been going this season alongside the Rabbitohs not having traveled interstate this year before this clash, I am backing the Dolphins to get it done. Dolphins by 8.

True for everyone, GB. To keep referring to past disappointment with results tends to make us bitter. Personally, I'd prefer to look towards good times ahead instead of looking backwards.

I thought you went for the Storm. Pity you were lost to the cardinal and myrtle since you were nurtured in the burrow. Are you sure about the foundation date of your school? Cleveland Street Boys High school established in circa 1856 became a coeducational school and moved from Cleveland Street Surrey Hills to Alexandria Park in 1983.

Storm. I didn't grow up in a league following family. First game I watched was a Storm game in 2011. Was in awe seeing Slater play. Became a Storm fan. Have immense respect for the Rabbitohs as a club on and especially off the field

So if you went to school in a South Sydney juniors area, which team do you support?

I started in 2014 and graduated in 2019

AB, Clevo moved to Alexandria Park in 1983, my last year, year 12. I was a school prefect. What year did you start going there? My final year was at the new site.

No, I went to Alexandria Park. New school, formed early in the early 2000s. I remember once when a few of the Burgess brothers came for a visit.

Did you go to Cleveland Street Boys High School AB?

I was hoping that would be the case. Never fear, I'm back on the Dolphins bus next week.

My high school was near the Oval and every time I catch the 392 to Redfern station, the bus goes past the Oval. Heffron Park is near where I live so might go watch Rabbitohs train a few times

"Banter isn’t always appreciated in this day and age of political correctness, cloistered safe spaces and rampant cancel culture." Hmm. Those things don't have a day or age, they're constants; always have been, always will be. Speech has been contested ever since it existed. Don't take my word for it, read some Jean-Jacques Rousseau or Soren Kierkegaard. John Howard and Tony Abbott would've read them when they studied, but they either forgot what they were talking about, or just decided to make it all about themselves. At a certain point in life, everybody becomes less confident expressing themselves. Be safe in the knowledge that unless you're raving mad on a street corner, absolutely nobody cares.

That is true for professional footballers not for for NRL fans post-game who have to deal with the reality of having 4 competition points stolen from them and awarded to two of the NRL Triumvirate teams. . For the record, I never complained about the Bunnies loss to the Storm due to howlers by the referee or bunker. . Souths were weak on middle forwards, had a soft defensive underbelly as a result, which the Storm exploited to great effect despite only an 8 point difference that flattered Souths.

You have seen my comments on this forum. I am no different in real life. It would be injurious to my health and my chances of longevity if I ever attended a Rabbitohs or Origin game at Suncorp stadium. . Banter isn’t always appreciated in this day and age of political correctness, cloistered safe spaces and rampant cancel culture. . I might be “cancelled” and vanish from existence entirely. . I have been to the Caxton Hotel though. But incognito.

Are the Dolphins your 1st team or your 2nd after the Broncos? Who do you cheer for when they play each other? . I will only ever cheer against the Dolphins when they play against the cardinal and myrtle.

We've all had decisions go against us, GB & they hurt. Dwelling on them, while playing, only helps your opponents.

You should care when the integrity of the game is trampled over to favour 3 teams above the other 14 clubs because it benefits the NRL and broadcasters balancesheet and plans to market the game. You should care because next year the Dolphins or Broncos might get a similar draw to the Rabbitohs 10 round draw of death! If calls are routinely made to deny the other 14 clubs of tries because of a blatant breach of the rules then two clubs shouldn't be gifted 2 competition points off the back of that. Last year the NRL wanted to see at least one QLD team make the finals and gifted the Cowboys both a soft draw and robbed the Tigers of 2 competition points and broke the rules of the game to do it. It guaranteed the Cowboys a top 4 finish.

It's the way I hoped I played & what I always tried to instill into those I coached. Dropping heads when something goes against you is just counter productive.
