Round 20 of the NRL continues on Saturday with the Manly Sea Eagles taking on the North Queensland Cowboys at 4 Pines Park. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 5.30pm AEST.

State of Origin is over and the downhill run into the semi finals has begun. Both these sides are in the mix for September action and that is why these two premiership points are crucial.

The Sea Eagles are already used to must win games. Before their final bye last weekend, they outlasted an improved Roosters 18-16 at Brookvale the previous week. Tom Trbojevic is gone for the season but the Sea Eagles just found a way to get the win.

If the Sea Eagles pack can create enough go forward, Daly Cherry-Evans kicking game can pin down the opposition. That is exactly what he did against the Roosters. Josh Schuster had a hand in Manly’s winning try, but he will need to do more against the Cowboys.

Cherry-Evans and Jake Trbojevic have been named to play but will be monitored after their involvement in Origin III. Dean Matterson will make his NRL debut in place of Ben Trbojevic who is out with a hamstring complaint.

Before their second bye, the Cowboys had a training run against the Tigers, winning 74-0. The Tigers were diabolical but everything the Cowboys did turned to gold. After a slow start to the season, they are coming home with a wet sail.

The Cowboys have one of the more mobile packs in the premiership. Chad Townsend and Tom Dearden are approaching their 2022 form and that unlocks their exciting backline.

The Cowboys have named an unchanged line up from the team that dismantled the Tigers a fortnight ago. Valentine Holmes, Murray Taulagi, Jeremiah Nanai and Reuben Cotter have all been named to back up from Origin.

Prediction

It’s hard to get a gauge on just how good the Cowboys were against the Tigers a fortnight ago. They definitely won’t threaten a similar margin against the Sea Eagles tonight, with the Manly side desperate to keep in touch with the 8 in front of a big home crowd. However, the Cowboys have more points of attack and should win. Cowboys by 8

See, my comment is realistic, your comment is ridiculous. Manly don't deserve to play finals because they lost at home to the ninth-placed team. Losing to Manly just makes you a below-average NRL club.

Left a he'll of a lot of points out there Manly over worked the ruck well in the second half and they probably should have been pinged a fair bit more than they did get done for in the first half. But with the defence we showed was excellent. All the origin players on both sides looked like they were pushing through the wall at the end. Tommy having to go right side twice when he realised Val and muz weren't into it ...

Sadly we don’t have anyone inspirational coaching them. Seibold is out of his depth and Flanagan is just plain useless

You don't count the penalty avalanche. Even ?

A win is a win so good luck to the Cows. But, and as much as it pains me to say it - and refereeing aside - the Cows had the ball and field position to give the Boys an absolute shellacking this evening. Silly errors. Lazy plays. Lack of discipline and concentration. It’s inexplicable at this point of the Season, and needs fixing without delay. As for the Boys, well he just keeps turning up : our man Reuben.

NQ should have put the game to bed by half time. Full credit to Manly for standing up to them in part two but it wasn't enough. Manly need a 5/8 badly as the one who played tonight is a loafer, not up to 1st grade level. Drinkwater was the difference between the two sides, playing a top notch game.

Probably the most frustrated I’ve been watching a win. It’s a win the Cowboys will take and i will use the excuse they had plenty of distractions with Origin. Execution was horrible at times with some low percentage choices when simple stuff was required. Defend really well but Manly wasn’t throwing much at them.

Thanks to the lop sided awarding penalties , we had a lot of defending our line to do.

Only saw 20 minutes of the first half, Cowbies haven't completely lost their ability to get distracted, it started early with 4 solid chances in oppo' red zone but didn't exert their dominance. This might be a good wakeup for next week against Parra. Looking forward to it. Bad luck Manly yous suck ????

Disappointing effort in so many ways. Can’t fault their goal line defence… thanks to the lopsided awarding of six agains they got plenty of practice. Ball in hand different story.. unbelievably unstructured and clunky this far into the season. Does Flanagan use a ball at training? Also why is he still there?

On paper , at Brookie, in Townsville , in Timbuktu we are a 20 point better side than Manly. To win by 11 is under achievement . If we do this next week we are toast. No attention to detail at all. Sorry I'm so negative but I can't stand dumb footy .
