The Melbourne Storm are in need of a win and they’ll back themselves to get one against the Brisbane Broncos when they host them at AAMI Park tonight. Stay up to date with their NRL clash with live scores on The Roar from 8:05pm (AEDT).

A quick glance at the ladder might tell you that the Melbourne Storm – in 11th with one win from three matches – are in trouble, but that would be a lie. Granted, they won’t be happy with coming off second best in back-to-back weeks against fellow contenders in Parramatta and Penrith, but they’ve navigated a brutal stretch fairly well and will be confident of bouncing back in a big way.

Brisbane finally put at end to their lengthy losing streak with a 24-0 drubbing of similarly-hapless Canterbury last week, but look to be in store for a harsh reality check this evening. The Broncos still have plenty of holes to fill before they can consider themselves a finals-ready side, but the comprehensive nature of last week’s win was still encouraging.

The Storm blew the Broncos away when they met last year, winning 46-8 at Suncorp Stadium – their eighth win in a row against Brisbane. The visitors have a shocking record at AAMI Park too, losing on their last four visits and scoring an average of just 13 points.

It keeps me warm at night Stormy – looking forward to our next game. And no disrespect to you either – you call it fair and square

No of course Melbourne aren't the only team to do it. They are consistently the worst though. My team can't make a tackle so there is absolutely no chance of us holding down or wrestling.

But melbourne are the only team that do it??? And I’m sure the team you support are angels and victims of poor referees

I thought Kent's comments on NRL 360 were pretty telling - but I don't need him to tell me what the Storm have done over the years. I've seen it with my own eyes. Maybe the term the filth was used a bit on the Raiders supporters website for a bit of amusement back in the day when the wrestle was at its height. No need to get your knickers in a twist. I always look forward to Raiders games against the Storm - even in the days when we were being flogged. They are the bench mark and to beat them is an achievement. But the Storm have form with the salary cap breaches and the introduction of numerous wrestle holds. There is no point in denying it. I respect that the Storm have been a power house side for many years but some of the tactics they've used to get there were either unsportsmanlike, illegal or became illegal after the NRL was forced to clamp down on it.

I think we both realise by now that what Bennett says to the media is not exactly a true reflection on what he says to the players in private. Bennett understands that without discipline premiership and even Origin success is not possible. Cody and Latrell are both too easy to bait for penalties, and they need to understand that they will be targeted by the opposition to gain an advantage and also to put them off their game. Case in point Latrell's reaction to Will Hopoate. If Souths are to win their 22nd premiership this year their discipline will have to improve dramatically.

Yes, that is what Bennett is probably dirty about and also Cody Walker has to be a bit more professional and not like a school kid, where (as Bennett said) no one knows what sort of pills he takes before a game  which is spot on as their #1 priority should be the footy and not the niggle which they got sucked into all game by the Dogs. There is a long way to go with the Bunnies before they are to the Storm and the Panthers level of intensity, that is what I’m sure every Bunnies fan is worried about including me.

When your forward “leaders” are quality blocks like haas and lodge it’s no wonder they look clueless

I’ve seen the broncos rack up 60 points previously and win by 50. Many other teams do similar

Yet the storm have lost two games?? But your retrying to say the rest of the comp shouldn’t bother??

While there’s been some blowouts there have been no record scores and plenty of close ones as well I don’t know why people are worrying. The first three games of this round were the clear bottom three vs the top three teams they were always going to be lopsided. There will be plenty of good ones this round

Yeah absolutely killing it only 46 points scored last night! Terrible. Or are you suggesting Brisbane and Canterbury would score more often under the old rules??

That closeness was artificial. Every year only a few teams were in it and there were blow outs. The poor teams dont get the continual rests anymore to hide their lack of ability as a team and indiviuals.

The game is so much better to watch bow than during those 15 years of endless rests, hitups and set plays. Vastly better. Players cant hide with rests anymore. It will take a couple of years but the standard of the comp will finally start to rise again and teams will catch up. Too many teams have not moved on from the pre pandemic style of game and were just not smart enough to adjust. Some were stuck with rosters full of players not suited to the new rules but they will slowly fix that over time.

Looking through the team lists Walter I really don't see that happening. The Raiders have lost Tapine and Scott and still look strong with the replacements coming into the side. That is why depth is so important in a successful NRL premiership campaign. IMHO I think the Raiders are stronger with Sebastian Kris replacing Curtis Scott. For me the only question mark over the Raiders is if they will be flat having drained the petrol tank last week with their 14 vs 17 80 minute effort. They were competitive right down to the last 20 seconds despite being significantly out manned for most of the game and I feel that may have a lasting affect today. Hopefully not and it will be a good game. Either way I think the Titans have a better chance than most of the teams outside my top 7 of finishing in 8th place at the end of the year.

Do you learn your "facts" from Paul Kent? Most Roarers are opposition supporters - none of them use this term, although most of them dislike the Storm. Not saying we're lily white, just a little respect - same as I give your Raiders.

Couldn’t agree more... it’s panning out exactly how it looked pre-season There’s a top 6 that’s almost unbeatable by anyone outside that group And there’s a bottom six who will mostly only win games against one another I’d probably be enjoying it more if my team was in the former group but it’s ridiculously predictable and these games are boring as hell after 20 minutes or Papenhuyzen lit up the ten minutes before halftime but the second half was dull as dishwater

What can I say Rob? When the NRL started tinkering with the rules and the coaches started finding ways to cynically exploit those rule changes the NRL have been struggling to catch up to these wily coaches. Like Wile E. Coyote with his Acme deliveries in the desert the NRL always think they have the very thing to catch the Road Runner (coaches) out. But they fail every time. There are too many inconsistencies with interpretation of the rules. Josh Mansour lying on the ground yesterday and having hands put him in some games (when it's the Roosters or the Storm) it's called tackled. Yesterday it was fair play. The rule against tackling players in the air was specifically to stop players being placed in dangerous positions where they could break their necks. That won't happen when their feet are only two inches off the ground, and they are not being tackled around the legs. Perhaps if the NRL didn't allow players being gang tackled into touch from 3 - 5 metres in-field or dragged back into the in-goal from the same distance players wouldn't feel the need to pull out the "voluntary tackle" card. Don't you think?
