Kodi Nikorima will make his first start for the New Zealand Warriors back at his old stomping ground when they take on the St George Illawarra Dragons in the middle of magic round. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 5:30pm (AEST).

All the talk around the Warriors ahead of this game has centred on the arrival of former Brisbane half Kodi Nikorima.

Let go from the struggling Broncos, the New Zealand international will be a new halves partner for Blake Green at the expense of the in-form and incredibly unlucky Chanel Harris-Tavita, who must be scratching his head and wondering what on Earth he did wrong.

Of course, the Warriors form has been patchy, but then, it always is, and that certainly can’t be blamed on the rookie half, given the nature of his performances.

After a stirring performance on Anzac Day in Melbourne, almost resulting in what would have been a famous victory, the Auckland-based club were up to their old tricks last weekend as they threw away a game and two vital competition points with some insipid play as they fell 36-18 to the Knights.

The Warriors also come into this game having won just seven of 28 games against the Dragons since they merged at the end of the last century.

While all the talk is rightly on the Warriors halves situation, the Dragons one doesn’t just fix itself either, with Corey Norman having surgery on a fractured cheekbone during the week.

Needless to say, he will miss the game against the Warriors in Brisbane, and it’s a big blow for the Red V, who are staring down the barrel of three straight losses, which follows four straight wins which kick-started their season.

A lot of the onus will fall on Ben Hunt to guide the team around the park, given he is joined by youngsters Matt Dufty and Jai Field in the crucial positions, but none of that may matter if the Warriors pack fall asleep like they did last week up against the strength of Paul Vaughan and James Graham, among others.

Prediction
The Dragons have a good historical record over the Warriors, who are simply in the do not tip basket after their recent performances. Even with Norman out, the Red V should hit back from two losses on the bounce.

Dragons by 6.

Absolutely brilliant second half from the Warriors. Hunt’s dropped ball was vital. Lawton has an impact. 20 unanswered points in the 2nd half from the Warriors.

Dragons should have had it wrapped up early in the second, well before Hunt's dropsy. For three weeks they've been coming out of the sheds with nothing. Mary needs to shut up, his halftime talk is sucking the life out of the team, they've been down that track before - get ahead and try to simply hold on instead of applying the blowtorch and going on for the kill. What a decent coach could do with this squad... They had this game, they had the game against Eels and they were in a winning position against Roosters. Really, really poor..

"It’s all about the Roosters" It's all about the salary cap and the Roosters are clearly over it. Even so Souths beat the Roosters once and they will beat the chooks again and again this year. Currently Souths are under the salary cap by about the same amount that the Roosters are over it. Yet they are BOTH on the same competition points.

What a great, gutsy comeback by the Warriors. Some hard calls went against them, but they held strong and grounded out the win. Just fantastic, well done.

Even if the Dragons made the eight, they would go out in the first week. Strong chance they'll miss the eight, but hey....It's all about the Roosters.

How could the Dragons lose this game? Only 1 play the ball inside the Warriors 20 metres in the second half! The majority of the Dragons last tackle plays were poor. They ran the ball on the tackle and were tackled 20 metres out giving the Warriors great field position. No sign of a short kicking game to pin the Warriors on their line and apply pressure. Not good enough. McGregor’s poor use of the interchange didn’t help the Dragons forwards with 7 interchanges still available with 20 mins to go. Hunt’s dropped ball from the restart was the turning point. Credit to the Warriors but the Dragons let that one slip and could regret throwing away the 2 points later in the year.

I think "not rating the dragons at all" is harsh. The first half both this week and last showed exactly what they are capable of. Love to be a fly on the wall at halftime though... Mary must put them to sleep.

5 from 5 in the tips!! Magic round might be perfect round, first one for the year if so! Warriors have been bad, but I just don’t rate the dragons at all...

FULLTIME The New Zealand Warriors have overcome a shocking historical record against the St George Illawarra Dragons to run on 20 unanswered points in the second half and take a huge comeback victory. The Dragons were excellent for the most part in the first half as they dominated the contest, but similar to the second half of last week's game against the Parramatta Eels, they fell apart as the Warriors came from behind. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck was immense for the Auckland-based club, while the forwards turned around their performance. With ball security improved and the Dragons forwards struggling to turn it around, the Warriors ran away with a couple of late tries for the victory. Warriors 26 Dragons 18

80' - CONVERSION MISSED by PATRICK HERBERT And that's all she wrote in Brisbane. What a second half from the Warriors. Boy oh boy do the Warriors have some soul-searching to do after that. Warriors 26 Dragons 18

Dragons fade again. Hopeless second halves, what Des or Wayne could do with this roster
