The high-flying Parramatta Eels open Round 11 of the NRL with a tricky match against Wests Tigers at Bankwest Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 6pm (AEST).
The Eels have sat atop the ladder for most of 2020, but were knocked off their perch last week after a disappointing 22-18 loss to an undermanned Sea Eagles outfit. They’re on a quest to end the NRL’s longest premiership drought and will look to bounce back here.
The Tigers, meanwhile, have put together some solid form over the last month to sit seventh – although they’re just two points away from 11th, making every match crucial. After gallant losses to Penrith and South Sydney, Wests bounced back last week with a 48-0 obliteration of the Broncos.
Parramatta enjoy a strong recent record over the Tigers, winning five of the last six encounters including both of last year’s encounters at Bankwest Stadium. These sides played the first ever match for premiership points at the venue, with the Eels prevailing 51-6.
Kick-off: 7:50pm (AEST)
Venue: Bankwest Stadium, Sydney

The Eels won the six again reset count but honestly in that first 20 minutes the Tigers tactics were obvious and allowed to pass. There were dozens of times the Tigers should have been pulled up (particularly Grant and Aloai). It is the problem with the six again rule - it isn't applied consistently.

Highlight was seeing a halfback score off a good old chip and chase

That was a good moment when he held Matto up

I tipped the Eels was barracking for the Tigers and thought Fergo was fantastic. He got into a lot of trouble off the field for a while but tonight looking after Matterson with a cuddle, not reacting to a high clip from Mybe and that finish for a no try when he hasn't got a meat pie all year was crazy good. MOTM Fergo.

It was a massive possession differential that’s for certain. I may have thought the six agains were higher maybe because of where they were awarded and when. At least two were whilst the Eels were toward the end of their set deep in attack. From memory both led to tries

There was a few high shots from the Eels that should have been penalised IMO but they let them go.

It was more penalties Tom ,8 to 2. Six gains 3 tok 2. But the end result was no ball for the Tigers.

I’m not entirely happy with the win; I agree with you that we should have scored a lot more considering the possession level. Hopefully BA drills that into them. The Tigers’ defence was terrific but we should really have put a lot more points on them.

Mikaele as well. They have a lot of players out but even then the players who played were also very good. I think they've found a good one in Blore as well. Ran well and defended superbly. His mini battle against Brown who is one of the hardest runners in the game was great to watch.

You can’t play at five home grounds and claim they’re all yours :silly:

Pretty good effort by the Tigers. I really think they have the team to challenge this year and will cause some upsets at the pointy end. Considering the players they lost before the game and then during the game I think they were very good especially in defense. The 6 against ran against them tonight and its really becoming a lottery. Eels were good and they did lose Matterson early as well but I felt they should have scored a lot more if you consider the possession stakes especially the second half.

True. Parra is a top4 side. Tigers are 10-6 side. Though if you add Musgrave, twal, garner and BJ leilua in there it would of made it more interesting.

They played without the ball for a massive amount of the game. I’d like to have seen the result if the Tigers has a fair share.. the six again rulings again a massive factor

Good on the Tiggers. Hung tough and it was a rough night certainly not far out of it. Parra too much power on the edges and a great front rowers try was the difference.

Deserved quite a few more Tom.

I wish the injuries didn’t happen and the surface wasn’t as slippery; it would have been a cracking game!

Tigers still looking strong. Always appeared dangerous. However, the Eels have the X-factor, as the 2020 grand final winners should.

Eels just too strong. Well played, Tigers, never gave up. Would have liked to have seen the game played without the injuries - would it have made any difference?
