'Every day of the week, ten in the bin': Does this incident prove the Eels copped a raw deal?

By The Roar / Editor

Eels coach Brad Arthur wasn’t impressed with the penalty imbalance and the number of stoppages when his team were in possession: “We’re 7-2 penalty count, the Bunker gets involved for what reasons?”

And this incident with Jarome Luai and Mitchell Moses, which went missed during the game, might indicate he had a point.

Is it a lack of creative thinking by Brad Arthur or a lack of creative input and execution by his halves, Moses and Brown? Both were MIA for most of that game.

No Tony, BA is pointing out that Cleary’s whinging directly influences the media and referees. He is doing the very thing he is accusing other coaches like Bennett of doing. If this is done in private out of the scrutiny of the media and the public, it is part of the proper process in place to deal with these disputes. Cleary leaked it to the media and made it public as leverage to put the referees under pressure. That is what Bennett and BA are trying to highlight.

IMHO something THAT blatant and THAT cynical which clearly can affect the outcome of a game should be a straight send off. Not 10 mins in the sin-bin but off for the rest of the game. If this is done in last 10 mins of a game then it should be a penalty and a quick tap directly in front of the defending team's goal posts irrespective of where this offence occurs on the field. The NRL, referees and the MRC are too soft in clamping down on these cynical cheating plays. Until they get tougher, nothing will change.

I agree . I can't remember the Jake T one but if that was a bunker call it's wrong . The bunker only rules on ' foul' play' in the general run of the game unless there is a CC. Now what is foul play? The bunker sure as hell doesn't know.

Reminds me,of last week when all the officials (and TV stooges), missed JWH pulling back a Titans major support player, without the ball.Which had a huge impact on that length of the field Titans run towards the end.

No surprise, the officials in NRL games are mostly amateurs.A blight on the game. Klein is incompetent and not up to it. And when Atkins is in the bunker,he is so inconsistent. Not much better on the field. I agree with B.A. and support neither team. NRL = No Real Leadership.

I won't be guilty if a few crucial calls go Manly's way.

Not sure that i said anything about Penrith but if playing no worse than a team currently off their game is the standard that you aspire to then good for you. Arthur keeps his job by keeping eels fans peeved nothing else

Please enlighten us on how Penrith displayed greater creativity? Both teams scored one try. The game was decided by two points - courtesy of Panthers penalty kick in front of the posts. There is no question Parramatta should have been given a penalty for both Luai and Naden holding back. And in most games this year that would also have been a sin bin. It's about as clear cut a howler as you can get, and gob-smacking that the bunker didn't intervene if the ref and two touchies missed it. Arthur has every right to be peeved.

Jake T was penalised and sent to the bin for accidentally bring down Gagai the last time Manly played the Bunnies in the finals. I'd like to hear an explanation as to why the bunker looks and acts on that incident and others yet choose to ignore this incident? I have no understanding of it as it just looks like they chose to intervene sometimes and to do nothing at other times.

Not a fan of either team but there IS a penalty (and binning ?) in that and then another with the Parra guy tackled before he can make a play on the bouncing ball. We all saw it, it happened, but one referee missed it (no shame, there used to be two), the touchy missed it/ignored/can't rule on it?, the Bunker doesn't want to know, hardly a commentator on FOX noticed it live. We call up every tinee, weenie knock on wit countless reviews but no-one wanted to right this wrong. Doesn't matter what has happened in the game before this moment, this moment warranted being ruled correctly and it wasn't. If I was an Eels supporter I would feel aggrieved, if I was a Panther's supporter I would feel lucky to be playing on.

Spot on. His coaching is not full of creative thinking. Much like Ivan Cleary’s

Rallying the ‘we wuz robbed’ crowd is how he can explain his sides lack of creativity? Seriously? If that’s all he’s go then it may be time to take a good look in the mirror supercoach
