It may be nit picking, but I would say there is subtle difference between Ennis copying a clap and AFB basically telling the crowd they are cry babies.
Neither of us know if his words were genuine or because he knew pleading innocent and being found guilty meant jail, vs pleading guilty and staying out of jail, so he did it to protect himself. I can live with the position I choose of prove me wrong. Not saying you or anyone else has to, I am not judging anyone else. My choice is to put a line through him until he proves me wrong because I think any man (but in particular a man his size) kicking his partner - Sorry it is a fair way back from there....
I was at the game - and yes my immediate reaction was I wanted to smack him one - along with about 15,000 other passionate Raiders supporters. But that dissipated pretty quickly. We can laught about it now but at the time it didn't go down too well. Anyway - water under the bridge. We all love the game and the rollercoaster ride of emotions you go through by being a supporter.
I’m not condoning what he did when he was charged..no sane person would, it appears however neither is he. As I said he demonstrated contrition and remorse.. ok you say he just did that to get off a charge. I’d point out that most players when faced with similar charges deny and plead innocence. Either way I’m not entirely certain what this has to do with a an innocuous taunting gesture to a crowd that is being described as the crime of the century by some. I remind you that Michael Ennis mocked the same crowd the only a couple of seasons back and most people thought it funny.
A link to an article that outlines his actions and guilt and a bunch of words he said to keep himself out of jail.
One of the things he says is I was caught up in this life of thinking I was better than everyone else when I wasn't. I hadn't even played first grade but I carried on as though I had … implying that he thinks first graders are entitled. Implying that he thinks first grade players are better than anyone else and can do what they like - like mistreat women.
So I choose to put a line through him until such time as he give me reason not to. I am sure he doesn't care, and neither do I.
I realise that what I see on the football field isn't the entirety of who AFB is, but does he look like a guy that has matured to anyone? Not me.
While not being a raiders fan he was just being a smart arse but you have to admit it does add a bit of theatre to the game. Probably the highlight of the afternoon in a pretty dour match.
Missed the game as I'd been crook for the previous week with the flu - maybe I over reacted but I'm a passionate supporter. I just don't like seeing people like Ennis and AFB rubbing fans faces in it. I go to most of our home games and never see to much carry on towards opposition players. We're usually too worried about how our own mob are going. There ia good rivalry devloping between the Raiders and Manly - will be interesting to see what happens if they face each other in the finals.
Forty......Leilua kneed Tom Trbo in the back also at the beginning of the match to which Tom responded with a dirty look. The FOX commentators also made mention of it & suggested the MRC would be interested.
Turn the clock back 10 years and it might have been Michael Ennis toying with the crowd. Ennis still has a way to go to pass on his talent to the Raiders to carry on a bit and still play smart footy. Ricky Stuart knows his players need to sharpen up and said so. NSW have found a long term big aggressive centre and although he's from Canberra it's not big Joey. He's wasted his chance perhaps.

I usually have 20 cent coins in my pockets to throw at people I dislike, Ennis would have copped the whole pocket hopefully blinding him.
