Firstly, Annesley will say anything to defend the indefensible, at least he's been consistent throughout 2019, with that! This 2019 GF has been a perfect shambles, mess and a blight to the game of RL! I don't know where the NRL can go from here? They have done NOTHING in this respect and they are on a kamikaze mission to do nothing! All I can say is this 'its very disappointing' as I'm sure that their actions have massively unpopularized the game and has lost allot of sponsorship and fans!
The ref (Lead Ref by the way) made a decision & right or wrong he should have stuck with it. He called six again, waved his arm to indicate that call. Was it the right call (six again) I don't know/play on. The Raiders players were obviously aware of that decision. The Ref can't change that call for any reason. Wighton was playing the six again. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
The Raiders didn't loose because of that call.
Would have Papali scored from 4 metres out if he had the ball in hand with Cooper Cronk trying to stop him? No. Penalty try.
Should have Joey have passed the ball earlier to Rapana? Yes.
If Cooper Cronk was the Raiders half, would we have won? Definitely.
The fundemental problem the Raiders have is that don't have a controlling halfback, who can manage the game, field position, ball movement, get repeat sets, continually build pressure. That is what we lack. George Williams should fix this long term flaw in our otherwise brilliant team.
I am proud of the team, fans & coaching staff. We willl only get stronger. We were the better team but didn't get the big prize.
Annesley has shown that he is a clone of Greenberg. It's all about perceptions, how he could stand there & defend the changed decision by the Referee as bordering on delusional.
The six again call was made verbally & indicated by the Ref's arm signal. He can't change that decision once its made. If Wighton scored & the video ref found that it wasn't knocked on by the Roosters fair enough. It is wrong for it to have happened.
I'm a very proud Raiders fan. Well done boys. Next year!
