Yes it was touch and go.. but this decision put the nail in the coffin to Union as did buying the entire successful Wallaby team of the early 1920's. That is when it shifted. Waverley College a noted rugby breeding ground even shifted to League in this time. To this day their 1st 15 still wear a league jersey.

In WW1 union stopped playing but league didn’t. That’s when union lost the battle. League has not forgotten
