The Roosters coach couldn’t come to terms with the inconsistency of the decision to send Jared Waerea-Hargreaves to the bin. That incident came at a pivotal point as Penrith scored on the next play to take a commanding lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Just say inside the 20m a ruck infringement on a repeat set = 10 in the bin.
I was "happy" JWH got binned. Think the panthers one later was less obvious and was fine it didn't get called.
It isn't the case, but I'd like to see an infringement on a tap anywhere result in the bin, then it is the same as one for the 7 tackle 20m restart.
I agree , give someone 10 for repeated infringments . But as no one really knows what half the 6 agains are for including the ref I reckon , make it easy and send the Captain. If the Captain cant control his players , off you go.
As a Panthers fan, I wasn’t very happy with the sin bin. Usually a case of six-again. There was no indication this would happen. Felt like magic round again. As we know a month on from magic round, everything went back to normal, so looks like by finals you won’t see this one anymore. Sound confusing? That’s Sutton for you. His interpretations in last year’s GF were odd to say the least.
He shouldn’t be sin binned as we usually get away with that , isn’t an excuse. It’s not a reason for a coach to complain about it either.
The referee got one right!
Agree, I have always said make the sin bin mandatory after 2 or 3 infringements. And add to that list situations teams are clearly breaking the rules on purpose like first set 6 agains coming out of your end
I think most people agree. My thoughts now are we have to put a number on infringements and make it a mandatory sin bin . Way too much difference between Refs and even with one Ref.
Too true. As much as I usually argue against ' black letter law' , it may be the only solution. Take it out of the Refs hands. Three 6 agains in a row you lose someone.
I bet if you look at roosters record - they probably give away most penalties on try line .
The roosters have always intentially given away penalties on try line to halt other teams momentum and for them to do subsequent errors as they are one of the best teams defending with set line
Roosters should have players binned more often
Spot on jimmmy. But we can’t even get consistent ruling from the same ref in the same game. Expecting it across multiple refs for multiple games across multiple weeks is sadly a bridge too far.
The thing is that SHOULD be the standard. Hargreaves deserved to go. But Robinson is right its a Dogs breakfast in its application.
Previous week same scenario Ref just gives a warning to Melbourne. It's that which confuses everyone.
As Nike says . ' just do it.'
Hargreaves got what he deserved. A 6 again had just been called against the Roosters on their try line. So he thought it was the perfect time to lay back on the tackle for as long as he could.
Pity he doesn’t get what he deserves when it comes to the judiciary. I think he’s covered with spiders when it comes to the judiciary. Just walks away Scott-Free , over & over again.

I like that for sure. It's way too subjective atm. Generally I like discretion to a point but that point is well and truly left behind.

Got no problem with it . What amazes me is a bloke like Evans gets reported 3 times and sin binned twice and remains on . To me that is a problem.

I think that's true of a few teams.

This should be happening all the time till teams start actually trying to stick to the rules.
