The Blues and Moana Pasifika go head to head for the second time in five days in what should be another exciting clash at Eden Park, Auckland as round seven of Super Rugby Pacific continues. Join The Roar for live scores from 4:50pm AEDT.

There were concerns about both the two new sides joining Super Rugby this year and whether they would be able to compete but both have shown that those fears were unfounded. The Drua have been a consistent thorn in the sides of Australian sides and the Moana Pasifika have shown that they are a genuine threat.

Moana Pasifika especially have impressed with their ability to deliver both an exciting style of play in the loose and an effective set piece – something that many have been surprised by.

Coach Aaron Mauger has brought his side together really well and despite challenges from COVID and having to create a team from scratch in just a few months, the Moana Pasifika side have already racked up a great first win with a golden point victory over the Hurricanes and pushed the Blues really hard a few days ago. Considering they are playing in the harder side of the competition where they go head to head with the Kiwi sides week in, week out, one starts to wonder what damage they could cause when they get to take on sides like the Rebels.

The Blues coach Leon MacDonald has shown faith in three inexperienced players who impressed in the first game against their opposition on Tuesday with Corey Evans, Cameron Suafoa and Anton Segner have just five caps between them but much is expected of the talented youngsters.

But the Blues also have plenty of experience to call upon and MacDonald has chosen to select Kurt Eklund, Marcel Renata, James Tucker, skipper Dalton Papalii and Tom Robinson.

The Blues are creeping up the table with a series of wins and another one today would see them putting pressure on the top three on the ladder

Haha fair enough. But the reality is not everyone is flush with $$$ so when we can afford to go we want to see them all not just some.

That’s a bit harsh. I was backing the Koconuts but couldn’t get to the game thanks to another commitment. Rain, Hail or Shine, I’ll either be there or I won’t but probably the latter.

Invest in something you want to fail? Oooooook   Actually, this is the same outfit that still have Foster & Plumtree at the helm, you might be onto something.

Don't be fooled. Funding something doesn't imply that you it to succeed.

I was going to go to this game but decided last minute not to. Lucky I didn't. I would've felt ripped to not see many of the stars from both sides playing. Nevertheless, the Blues won and I'm happy. Moana missing too many personnel including coaches. They were up against it from the start. Flush it and next job.

The roar mods are totally into wokeness until their commercial interests are threatened. Moana should be seen and not heard.

7 tries to 1. Blues will happy with that.. that puts them 3rd on the table. Clarke.. disappointing part of the game. But the Blues set piece was solid, Christie is getting better at organising the pack. Kurt Eklund had a great game! The Blues attack was pretty relentless, MP were under the pump most of the second half. But I like what I’m seeing from MP, very physical and determined, plenty to build on

Congratulations Blues and to their supporters, I will keep it short. TMO and the ref had an impact, but did not decide the final outcome.

It looks that way, Blou. The commentators are extremely ‘diplomatic’ about the rubbish calls too.

NZ rugby can't afford Moana to win regularly.
