The Highlanders tackle the Chiefs in a Saturday night Super Rugby Aotearoa clash. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:05pm (AEST).

The Highlanders shocked the Crusaders with a 33-12 upset in Christchurch last weekend, while the Chiefs had the bye following back-to-back victories over the Blues and Hurricanes — their only two wins of the campaign to date.

The Otago outfit have been forced to make six changes to the line-up that stunned the reigning champions eight days ago, whereas the men from Waikato maintain a more settled team sheet for their trip to Dunedin.

With the Highlanders and Chiefs both sitting on two wins — one game adrift of the second-placed Blues — success tonight is vital if either side plans to challenge for a spot in the decider.

On home turf at Forsyth Barr Stadium, the Highlanders will start favourites to claim their third win of 2021 against the improving Chiefs.

100 percent agree. The old days when all the Kiwi SR team had massive depth in their player squad seems to be over.

I think the big problem is the turnover of personnel in these teams. We has two 21yos at lock, a 22yo at flank, a 23yo at hooker and a 24yo at 8. Then a 22yo at ten and 21yo at 12. It's starting to really harm the comp.

Thank you Chiefs. Landers are my favourite NZ team but I picked the Chiefs to pull an upset. Which they did. Maybe the giant killers were tired? Muzzo’s international coach is good but unfortunately he wasn’t playing. Second unfavoured team to get up in this round of Super.

Ash Dixon, one of the most sensible, intelligent and accurate post game interviews I have heard. His analysis was spot on, free from the usual meaningless cliches and in particular his identification of the strategic blunder at the end -running it from within their own half instead off kicking it deep and playing down near their scoring zone. Enjoyed the game but not quite the ‘brilliant spectacle’ the commentary team are calling. Good skills but also a bit of a comedy of errors leading to multiple penalties.

Winning ugly is better than blowing it at the end like last year! Massive test next week.

Conceded some strange penalties when we had the ball. Frustrating. Thankfully ALB made the big play when we needed it.

Chiefs coach Clayton didn't look too pleased - he was probably thinking why did we lose a 10pt gap with 10 mins left ...
