The Wallabies will be desperate to end their Spring Tour and their year with a victory over Wales at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff. Both sides will feel disappointed with their respective performances over the past few weeks and have one final chance in 2021 to impress coaches and fans. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 04:30 am (AEDT).
Dave Rennie has been forced yet again into more changes to his starting XV as a result of injury with the Wallabies due to miss talismanic leader Michael Hooper who will be replaced by Pete Samu.
The news is better in the front row though as Rennie has been able to bring back Taniela Tupou to the starting line up and Allan Alaalatoa to the bench. The pack struggled against England last week and stand-in skipper James Slipper, will want to lead the forwards to a much stronger performance.
Waratahs centre Lalakai Foketi will likely make his debut from the bench and replaces club teammate Izaia Perese. On the wing, Filipo Daugunu makes a return from a broken arm to the Wallabies starting lineup and replaces Tom Wright who had a tough day out at Twickenham.
If you think Australia have struggled with selection challenges, then take a moment to think about the situation that Wales coach Wayne Pivac has had to deal with. As a result of selection restrictions, injuries and some disappointing performances, Pivac has selected 40 different players so far for their three past Tests.
But it’s not all bad news and Pivac will be happy to have some of his top talent back for this clash with the Wallabies – a side the Welsh have beaten three times in a row. Dangerous wiger Josh Adams and exciting number eight Aaron Wainwright, are both back. Joining Wainwright in the forwards, Tomas Francis and Seb Davies are back, while New Zealand born centre Uilisi Halaholo will get his sixth cap.
Prediction
Having won the Six Nations earlier this year, Wales will be disappointed at how they’ve performed against the Southern Hemisphere sides so far this tour and both the team and the crowd will be well up for this clash against a tired Wallabies side that hasn’t played much together.
Wales by 5.

KB a match winner? had he played to the whistle and tackled the welsh player after the deliberate knock on instead of throwing his arms up trying to milk the penalty, he would have been the match winner. He was past his due date last year and only marginally improved this year.

Someone writes something decent. Appropriately fitting to the debate. Not so sure about winning the WC. Selection is therefore the key. Those names are the future and one name is missing is McDermott. He is the future.

Ssshhh, don't mention that the loss of Hooper wasn't as big as some thought it would be. He is a great player and has grown into an ok captain, he may have even been the difference today if he was playing. But I am a broken record stuck in the past. Hooper has had an outstanding season both as captain and player, perhaps his best yet. He is at the height of his powers. But my contention has always been whenever he gets injured the immediate reaction is "that's a blow, it's going to damage our chances. But then we go hmm, we can adjust and fill the gap adequately." But when Pocock was at the height of his powers the rugby community held its collective breath at the thought of him getting injured. The thinking being "he is irreplaceable nobody fills that gap adequately". I know. I know I have to move on.......

They will do more than just be at the pointy end. They will win the next RWC. This is a young team developing a very strong culture that digs in and never gives up. This match, the wins against the French and Boks in the RC are a testament to that. The many doubters and Monday morning keyboard warriors on this sight have finally seen the world-class rugby player that Samu Kerevi is and has been for the last two years. He is 28. I hope this game has shown that the likes of Hunter Piasami are Test rugby ready and will only get better with more tests. Below is a list of players and the ages they will be in 2023. Notice they are all 28 years old or younger. Lolesio 23, Petaia 23, Bell 23, Wilson 23, Frost 24, Ikitau 25, Paisami 25, Valentini 25, Leota 26, Perese 26, Swain 26, Swinton, 26, Tupou 27, Vunivalu 27, Rodda 27, Daugunu 28, Kellaway 28, Foketi 28. I am happy to be the lone voice. But these lads are growing into something special that will do this country proud for many years. Including bringing back the Bledisloe Cup.

Oops, sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I only followed the thread back as far as the later post

We felt at the ground that, rather than simply hoist it back to them in the air as we did last week, that it showed an intent and we played off that. Maybe I read too much into it. He looked pretty good to be though regardless.

The head contact rule is a bad joke. It is like using a hammer to fix an annoying a fly. Time to institute a new rule: All Test matches must have American Football-styled helmets worn. Or else have only Touch Rugby Test matches. The head-contact rule has turned the code into the game of “rugby” into a dumb sport. William Ellis is turning in his grave,

Ozinsa..daugunu run back into a defence that will set up a ruck(so can any player just run into a defence)..daugunu made zero metres here..whats key in that move was nick white clever kick over the defence for paisami..actually that try was created by whitey and paisami...

pinetree..i think wallabies has been the most penalized team for quite some time now...so I expected them to lose that one as well amongst other issues..

Forwards were really good and it was great to see Paisami settled and taking good options. Defence was good and there were few dumb penalties. Even so, the big improvement to come is in discipline.

Lazy effort and lack of trust in his covering defence. Beale only eyes for the ball. Penalty at most, but because it's Beale was happy to see him carded. Lazy

After this match Nic Berry's performance wasn't exactly too bad at all compared to this Scottish lad haha

Typical Beale though, always looking to kick away possession rather than running it. Hasn't changed

He was too reliant on Cooper and Kerevi. Lolesio needed a good run in this match to help expose his abilities and build his confidence. We need to build depth which will happen during next year's Super Rugby Pacific

'It is a code for pussy-cats' haha. To quote the movie Snatch: 'we're not playing tiddly-winks. These blokes are out to 'urt each other'. I do agree mate. The head contact, mostly accidental, is apart of the game. Players are told to drop their body height but are now getting pinged for entering rucks too dangerously. Valentini's tackle, whilst high, was void of any malice or intent to harm. It was a case of two big bodies colliding. It didn't look good seeing Beard leave the field which probably only fueled the AR and TMo Joker Jonker to push for a card. Yellow at most. But agree with you in regards to why rugby is losing fans
