The Roar rugby experts Brett McKay, Harry Jones are joined by Christy Doran for a special edition Instant Reaction after Eddie Jones dropped more than a few selection bombshells in naming his 33-man Wallabies squad for the Rugby World Cup in France.
Well said Ken.
I agree with your sentiments.
Quade has hardly been a constant ... and I genuinely believe he - more than some in the squad - had earned a shot in '23.
Time (and B Donaldson) will tell.
And in the ROAR battle of the receding hairlines, Christy is well ahead - but has some serious action in what hair he does have - was this a str8 out of bed podcast?
Your empathy is appreciated Riccardo.
I have a number of friends who were Shute stalwarts, and the professional players and coaches.
Like Mark Ella (who some of them wrestled with), they won’t watch test matches.
If Eddie turns out to be shooting for ‘27 with RA’s (our) money on a ‘23 development tour, I may join my friends playing cards on test nights.
I concur Chook, but the most insightful view came from that Saffa bloke.

Harry outlined the WB prospects sans Quade well. And noted how far the picasso of the pass has come to build his legs for Eddie’s smash and not grab.
Was Quade’s one of Eddie’s midnight announcements?
So Harry wins, and not just cause he’s dressed for court. (Hope you were on the happy side of the bench Harry).
Excellent work gentlemen.
And good to put a face and voice to the words, Christy. Contrary to to Brett’s ‘mirror-less’ comment, the medium might suit you.
I have to challenge your blanket comment regarding Hooper And Cooper, though.
THey have not been ‘constants’ in the established regime. Hoops has, and for good reason.
And his summary ‘execution’ in this context seems churlish.
But Quade - Establishment?!? Part of the furniture? Shunted from pillar to post by a variety of excellent but myopic coaches only to emerge to fill the perennial WB playmaking gap two seasons ago. And still the best play-chef in the country, despite the selective groupthought sans thought that rolls out from the cheap seats here. (Cue the boo).
Never given a platform by Eddie’s recent game plans, never given a fair suck of the sav by the ‘establishment’s’ Nick White, and now resting his shiny new, 9-month rehabilitated, achilles in one of Eddie’s pauper dining rooms.
And speaking of paupers - where does the cup-hungry WB fan eat tonight? On a 2027 promise?
Eddie said P.I.D. and it looks now like he may have actually meant it. Nothing says Playmaking is Dead like this squad. (Placekicking also).
Thank you gentlemen, excellent raw Roar piece.
If RA has allowed Eddie to pick a squad with the Lions and next RWC as the target then they owe Australian supporters a big apology. If so this shows a complete lack of empathy with supporters who buy tickets, merchandise and Stan subscriptions. For me personally I want the best team for 2023, then the best team for the Lions etc. I don't want to watch then get thrashed!!
Good discussion guys.
I'm with Brett in that there is so much apparently arbitrary judgement going down, it's hard to know what to make of the whole thing. Guess many and possibly most will be scratching and shaking their heads until we see how these guys roll.
For the coach/es not to let Quade and Hooper and others prior to the announcement is just poor. Those 2, in particular, have been stalwarts for Australia through some difficulty and is really disrespectful.
Samu, Cooper, Hooper, Lonergan, Ikitau... WOW!
Looking sharp Harry...

Going on the images presented, I did think that Brett's reference to Christy's hair was, well, how should I say it, brave ... :stoked:

Really enjoyed this guys... except the content. Sadly. Three different points of view... all well reasoned and argued.
