You should be embarrassed for yourself, and I am embarrassed for you, if you condone that behaviour, regardless of who did it. Yours is the kind of attitude that gives, in this Kiwis, a bad name.
I've never denied that I find a lot of the weird BS that surrounds NZ rugby distasteful. I didn't like it when they used to hilariously bomb out of the RWC every 4 years and I don't like it now they've won the last 2. It's nothing to do with AB success, it's to do with the fact I think they've always been both thugs and hypocrites.
I'd only be guessing but maybe some are surprised and bemused he is still being booed after all this time. Lots of booing in lots of matches yes. Lots of booing at SOO games, yep. Boo the ref for a bad decision. Boo Paul Gallen when in a blue jumper playing against QLD, yep it happens. He or any other specific players aren't booed irrationally and incessantly though and certainly not for 8 years. It is interesting that it is happening and many wonder why. It is a specific phenomena performed by a specific group. Worth a story I suppose. No need to be overly defensive though. Ruins the objectivity.
Ken what is the reason the article was written and put up on this site? Booing goes on at almost every match in almost every sport! Why write an article about a player being booed in a match down in ChCh?.....This article is all about QC and is designed to bring out a whole bunch of anti kiwi posts.....And it worked.....pathetic
Fionn as usual you cant read what is written you read what you make up in your head....No one is defending anything....Is booing bullying? Booing can often be a mark of respect...Just the same way a crowd hates the best player an opposition has...but as I have said ........ALL COUNTRYS FANS BOO........But you have apparently only ever seen the Kiwi fans boo....I think its more about you being a QC fanboy than any booing as SOO had booing yet I havnt read your disgust at that!
Never been but for a little town of less than 15,000 it is has produced some great sports people,
Pero Cameron
Richard Kahui
Nicky Little
Walter Little
Henry and Robbie Paul
Kevin Mealamu
Maria Folau
Just balance things out though Brian Tamaki
Add booing Adam Goodes into retirement.
Billy Vunipola booed repeatedly for his support of Izzy
Paul Gallen at every SOO.
The reasons vary some I agree with, others I feel are disgusting, regardless booing is for morons.
Born Auckland but lived in Tokoroa from 1 before moving to Aus early teens.
Now I have to leave before I say something appalling about Tokoroa and its potential impact on “give me a boy till he’s 7”.
Yes Riddler, most kiwis may be with Paulo on this issue.
But they are absent or silent here.
Here we host multiple boo defenders with petulant ‘whataboutitis’ and similar logic gaps.
And yet, most of your comments funbus, are “girly hissy fits” denigrating any & all things from New Zealand. I find it sad, & amusing, that you can’t recognise your hypocrisy or the massive inferiority complex you have. At least you’re consistent, aye?! SMH ????.
"Cooper’s heinous crime against the sainted Richie 8 years ago was a bit of petulance that couldn’t possibly have caused serious injury. It wouldn’t make the top 50 highlight reel of thuggish acts by All Black players this century (let alone ever)"
To be fair, Cooper was never an All Black, so couldn't really make that list... just saying.
I think this is the point. The ‘thuggish off the ball’ that still apparently infuriates you 8 years later was a mild bit of petulance that couldn’t have caused serious injury. I would get writer’s cramp listing the incidents committed by AB players that were in a different league for thuggishness. It’s this unbalanced, irrational, lack of perspective or proportion that large swathes of Kiwis have in relation to the All Blacks that looks so weird from outside.
