And being lucky is fair enough too. To the win the whole thing I think you need one close call, a win by one or two points in the last few minutes. NZ certainly had that last cup with SA.
Nah, not many but some.
It does raise its ugly head when his reffing comes to the fore though.
If you accept the decisions when they favour you, then you have to accept them when they do not.
There is only one TMO who is valuable enough to feed and coincidentally he is English. Graham Hughes should be stuffed in a bunker somewhere and made to officiate on all internationals.
Anyone who thinks that Whiney Barnes can spot a knock on or forward pass should be locked up in Bedlam.
The poor French once again are subject to rule by the G&T crowd who rule rugby. SH teams are subject to the same racism even by French referees. Karma is such a bitch.
I think some one probably would call it that... someone should write an article about it :stoked:
I'm not blaming this try decision for the lose. the French lost it way before this. They had Wales on the ropes and lacked the knock out blow when in their 22m for so long. Where were the drop attempts, what happened to the scrum under the posts? Yes, the scrum was man down, did they not have a replacement on the bench someone else they could put in the scrum?
Anyways, on to the Semi's, tough run for the Eng and NZ, but I feel it might be a training run for SA.
I agree that he was very poor - the breakdown was a free for all, and there seemed to be some kind of offside amnesty. A few incidents that I can think of: knock on decision against Liam Williams in the Welsh 22 line when he didn't even touch it, stopped a potential Welsh counter attack; obvious French crossing near the Welsh line (can't remember who sorry) that he missed; really bizzare incident on 57 minutes where he gives a penalty to wales and calls advantage, then Chat picks up the ball and runs - and Peyper calls play on!!! (most players had stopped but luckily Wainwright was awake to the chaotic refereeing and tackled him); Welsh attack under the posts on 74 minutes, Lewis dropped the ball backwards but Peyper gives it as a knock on (that was the scrum Wales scored from).
You must have been watching a different game from the one I saw. Whereby the red card is fully justified, Peyper and his assistants were very poor, as is usually the case for Jaco Piper. How many decisions went the French way ? Please tell.
Borderline I think, it looked like he was trying to propel it in the direction of the French line, but at the same time it came out of his hands sideways.
Good non call imo
No try if you want to get technical. It was forward. You have the try line as a guide. But nothing in it really. I thought the problem was the onfield decision was "try" so no enough on reply to overturn it?
Since I am neither Welsh nor French I say it was "flat enough to let go".
You're the person doing all the whinging about something no one is whinging about.

I dont know where this idea is com ijng from, Peyper was doing the Welsh no favours at all in that game. Many mistakes, just about all of them going the wqy of the French until that no-forward strip decision. Wales will be relieved they won't be getting him for the semi-final.
I saw two other angles and both IMO made the pass look forward that weren't shown. That was most bizarre.
However the knock on by the French Halfback and the stupid kick by another French player ultimately cost them.
Was sad I so wanted them to win and Wales really didn't deserve to go to the semis.
It might matter in that context, but in the context of some kiwis still moaning 12 years after being bundled out of the rwc, it sure as hell doesnt.
I'm over the perpetual whinging. We claim that poms whinge but holy carp!
I'd be surprised if Williams was not offside at some point during that scrum...Peyper did tell him to stay behind...I think they call it pushing the boundaries... :silly:

Can't argue with that, Gatland himself admitted they're lucky to be there

I don’t think many Kiwis still hold onto 2007, at least none that I know. What time doesn’t heal, 2 consecutive World Cups sure does.
