Central Coast Stadium hosts an intriguing clash between two teams desperate for a full set of three points when the Central Coast Mariners host Sydney FC in the final game of Match Week 4. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog from 6:15pm AEDT.

Despite sitting ninth on the A-League Men ladder, the Mariners have been very, very good in patches and perhaps a little unlucky not to have a few more points at this stage of the season. A closely fought match against Macarthur FC last weekend saw them once again walk away with nothing to show for their efforts, despite managing eight shots on the Bulls’ goal, and only an unlucky own goal robbed them of at least a point.

Sydney FC squandered a two-goal lead against the Jets in Match Week 3, and manager Steve Corica will be furious at his side’s start to the campaign, knowing that a place in the top four is mandatory should a serious challenge be mounted for the championship. The Sky Blues have ageing legs, are missing Rhyan Grant and will be sweating on the returns of Kosta Barbarouses and Bobo for either this match or the next.

A win for either side would potentially kickstart their season, while a loss makes the road ahead a tough one, with the gap between the loser and the ladder leaders considerable after just four weeks of play.

I think the mariners have been underrated off the last two weeks, we were equal to the task in the Macarther game, and the Wellington game smelt of a game the Mariners weren't prepped for correctly. There was an attempt last week that went 6 or 7 dangerous passes, and it was save by Kurto on the line, a metre left or right and it would have been a draw last week. that being said there is alot of doubting thomas' around, so they will have to be proven wrong

Not really a shock result. Corica isn’t very imaginative and his inherited team has got old.

The Central Coast Mariners have shocked Sydney FC at Central Coast Stadium, with a thoroughly deserved 2-0 victory that launches them into the A-League Men's top six. After three winless weeks for the Sky Blues and a brutal midweek encounter with Macarthur FC, the prospect of heading up the freeway to face the plucky and determined Mariners was always going to be a tricky one. That proved to be exactly the case, as the home side jumped out of the gates with two first half goals off the back of an excellent press that had Sydney FC in an utter mess. Throughout much of the 90 minutes there was little to suggest the Sky Blues would find a goal, they were awful from go to woe and only an Adam le Fondre strike that rebounded off the inside of the post saw them come anywhere near close to scoring. The Mariners were aggressive, persistent and classy in front of goal and Sydney were the exact opposite; the score line was a perfect representation of how the contest played out. Steve Corica now has an eleventh placed team on his hands and Mariners coach Nick Montgomery has a top six team that look likely to cause headaches for others destined to face them in the coming months. Delicious. Decadent. Deserved. Hat’s off to the CCM fans on their first home match in Gosford this season. Sydney FC are still a champion team with a cupboard full of silverware. They will rebuild.

90+2 Buhagiar on the right. He has looked okay but needs much better control on the ball. Possession is lost and Birrighitti will take another goal kick that will almost close out this match. Central Coast Mariners………2 Sydney FC………..……………..0

The next few weeks will show whether Corica is a top class coach or just got by on what Graham Arnold put in place.

89' Sydney are mucking about with it on the near wing, handball the result. Corica's men look like they just want this to end. There is no direction or purpose at all. A very disappointing performance. Central Coast Mariners………2 Sydney FC………..……………..0
