The Newcastle Jets and Wellington Phoenix meet at McDonald Jones Stadium with both sides eyeing off a set of three points that could see them inside the top six at the completion of the weekend’s matches. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:45pm (AEDT).

After stunning Sydney FC with a second-half performance that did all but grab the points on the road last Saturday night, the Jets will once again look to talisman Valentino Yuel when they tackle the impressive Phoenix in the Hunter.

Should Yuel produce anything like what he did against the Sky Blues, the entire competition will once again be astonished by his skill and attacking power and in awe of his exceptional talent. However, Wellington have weapons of their own to employ, and off the back of midweek FFA Cup success they will be looking to grab their second win of the season and move temporarily to the top of the A-League ladder.

In what looks to be one of the toughest matches to tip this weekend, where the youthful flair of the Jets will be pitted against the patient and determined front line of the Phoenix led by Gary Hooper, let’s hope the east coast weather eases a little and allows the match to live up to its potential.

Such a fantastic evening for us long suffering Novocastrians! Newcastle played "A beautiful brand of football". They played high energy possession based football with very special "ticky tacker" one touch goals that just blew my mind. The tactics were straight out of Pep Guardiola coaching manual. I feel so privileged to have been at the game, and I'm feeling confident that the best is yet to come for The Newcastle Jets. Congratulations to coach Arthur Papas and the team on a masterclass performance.

Surely someone out there wants to buy and fund The Jets. They are a great team to watch and look like they are building into something special.
