Perth Glory enjoys a rare early season home fixture when they take on Adelaide United at HBF Park in Round 1 A-League Men action. Join The Roar for live scores from 10:05pm (AEDT).

After a season where things never really got going for Richard Garcia’s men, the Glory fans will hoping the departures from the playing list are not as disastrous as many believe they will be.

Jack Clisby, Brandon O’Neill and Aaron Calver bring experience and quality, yet the sheer weight of numbers having left the club does cast serious doubt over whether the men from the west can mount a serious finals challenge this season.

The Reds welcome back Isaias and George Blackwood into what is a youthful and dynamic team and will be hoping to kick their season off in the perfect way, with a win on the road against a Glory team certain to be a little clunky and rusty.

After advancing to the final four in 2020-21, Carl Veart will be hoping to see further improvement from his Adelaide team, one that does appear to have plenty in it. Barring a vintage performance from Perth’s Bruno Fornaroli, logic suggests that the Reds may well get their season off to a winning start in Perth.

Attendance in the house tonight at HBF Park is 17,198. A great showing for the season opener here in the west!

Adelaide were toothless in front of goal and when they did strike it was luck, As for Glory damn they were bad. With both teams fighting for the spoon this year i think a draw is a fair result.

I too tipped Perth but watching the match it looked as though the defensive issues of seasons past are to continue in the west this year.

I gave a realistic prediction based on variables associated (In particular 8 games in a row away, + adelaide with several players under done) Bring up the pre season post where I said if Perth dont take 3 points here, they will be bottom by round 9 ???? I’ve also got every prediction wrong this round lol

PER 2 vs 0 ADL – must win for perth because the next several matches are on the road. I think they’ll comfortably get past an adelaide team with players underdone in pre season. Where was this bluster pre-match?

Scoreline didn’t reflect the match, absolutely dominated tyem Really shouldve won that by 5 or 6 goals, Adelaide will have a major say where the title goes. 2nd best team to watch play in the comp. Adelaide were predicted to finish near the bottom by most east coasters, happy for us to be written off And people were predicting Perth for the title? I have then down to finish 10th, for the money they spent in sturridg they couldve bought 4 or 5 players They have the lightest midfield and one of the worst defences in the league They are in for a painful season

Coverage of Western vs Victory was no better. Seems to be the general rule for all broadcasts other than the Saturday night Ch 10 match.

Across its broadcast revenue, GamePass is pretty niche for the NFL. Its bread-and-butter is its broadcast deals with the big networks, both in the US and other major markets. It’s not how most Americans watch the NFL. So I’m not surprised they didn’t work too hard to fix it. On the other hand, Paramount IS the A-League’s bread-and-butter. It’s how local fans of the game have to watch it. They really have to try to make it work.

Fans thought Fox was bad. Be careful what you wish for. Obviously all the good coverage will be for NSW and VIC teams on 10 in primetime. Everyone else, bad luck.

Niav and co. look like they might be doing a post-game show to no one… Ok I now see you need to select Matchday Saturday video to get this.

Exactly Optus was different type of poor to this. Kenny Lowe in the comm box is a welcome addition though.

Optus was simply not enough capacity to handle demand. This is rubbish presentation , poor quality and audio , no stats and maybe only 3 cameras on site. I actually really like the commentary of Papalia and Lowe but the overall product is awful. It's got cost cutting written all over it Imagine what Sturridge's family back home are thinking if they tuned in for this?

Fingers crossed but NFL Game Pass has a reputation for being poor for many years with minimal attempt by the NFL to improve it. So it is not a given that Paramount + and the APL who produce the matches will make the necessary improvements. NFL too big to fail whereas AL everything to lose.

I remember Optus Sport had teething problems when they first started. Now they’re pretty good. Hopefully the same here.

And then we get a still shot from a rubbish angle. How can VAR say that's definitive in awful quality at a 60deg angle?!?!?!? Still no stats, still no decent replays. My trial isn't going to last the full 7 days.
