A mouth-watering match awaits as two contenders in Perth Glory and the Central Coast Mariners go head-to-head at HBF Park. Stay up to date with their A-League clash with live scores on The Roar from 9:20pm (AEDT).

Perth made it three wins a row on Friday night with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Brisbane Roar. The Glory may only sit sixth currently, but that’s a very misleading position given they’ve played just six matches. Should they keep winning as they catch up to their opponents in terms of number of games played, they’re good enough to be a full win clear atop the table.

Occupying first spot now, however, are the surprise-packet Central Coast Mariners. Picked by many as a wooden spoon favourite coming into the season, the Mariners have instead won six of their first nine matches to sit on top of the table. They’ve just started to falter in recent matches, however, making tonight’s match a huge test in their attempts to keep their winning form up.

Isn't Dane new to Glory? Jai and Dane switched clubs I thought - both original Roar boys, Roar released Dane and took on Jai, I thought.

I think a lot of “experts” will be eating humble pie for breakfast this morning. Even Mariner’s fans were weary about beating Glory, but they did. Plus, they succeeded with minimal possession too. Central Coast made every pass count, unlike other teams that fluff their way around the field. How could Perth only negotiate one shot on target with nearly 70% of possession? It’s criminal. I congratulate Central Coast on the win.

Why is Dane Ingham still on Glory’s list? I don’t know what Popa saw in him, maybe he thought, “this guy sucks, so he won’t take my kids’ places in the team!!!”

Please, please , please understand understand we are kinda shell shocked on the Coast... Staj is an exceptional coach he and others....build this squad ... thats so F......ings important to understand... he let players go and built a squad on the cheap... he has Matty S & DDS playing their best Football ever in their careers ... add Nissy and others.... Still finding it hard to believe what a difference a excellent coach makes to results and player confidence.... I don't see us top of the table at seasons end... but its great to have a time to dream what could be...

Is it time to take the Mariners seriously now. For a while I thought they were just having a spirited run and were destined to fall but after beating goalhappies in Perth, I’m starting to think they’re the real deal.

Stick that up your Central Australian brown patch, Adelaide Andy, I believe Adelaide missed the opportunity to win in perth.

Honestly I’m not a fan of teams wearing alternate strips unless both teams main kits clash with each other, ie obviously the wanderers and wunited would have to wear their clash strip against each other, but perth and central coast dont.
