I don’t disagree, but where is the same level of scrutinising about our “world” champion cricket team that were lucky Pakistan couldn’t catch and were beaten by an almost second string West Indian team that was already a weak team without the withdrawals? What about our results in tennis? What’s being said about those sports? Unless the Socceroos win and win pretty they are bagged out by non footballing people who don’t realise or care how hard international football is.

The stats flatter us Grem...so far we've played like a plodding mid table team ...with no indication at all that there is the extra gear needed to win the Cup. The highlight of the tournament to date?.... that we haven't had to get up at 3am to watch.

Gethin Jones is a park footballer and one good cross doesn't change that. Atkinson was way better than Jones and his own recent appearances when he came on...so it's goodbye Jones, especially after the retaliation yellow (which could have been a red). Souttar comes into best of all time Socceroos discussions now that he's ahead of Viduka for goals. A goalscoring plank!! We were pretty bad mostly...can't make a pass under any pressure at all.

Martin Boyle with his headed goal and some excellent touches caught the eye as did Jordan Bos. Gethin Jones will be happy with the assist for the second goal and Harry Souttar has finally got on the scoresheet. The set piece delivery was poor - right up until it wasn't and Goodwin put the perfect ball on big Harry's 'ead.

Really good hit out for the Roos ahead of the quarter final game. Well done Indons who made it a tight contest, except for the scoreboard. Their players acquitted themselves very well. The A-league could benefit from one or two of their players.

That's FULLTIME. 4-0 to the Aussies. Maybe a little flattered by the final score but they froze out Indonesia in the second half. Arnie's bench came up big time - Goodwin with a goal and assist and Nathaniel Atkinson impressive.

Australia is undefeated and they’ve scored 8 goals with 1 against and 3 clean sheets. It indicates we have had a great tournament, but we’re not pleased and want more. I agree we haven’t played as well as we’d like, but a lot of criticism is placed on the Socceroos.

Australia finally get their set piece right - a free kickfrom the left from Goodwin is met by an unmarked Harry Souttar who glances it past the goal keeper and puts some gloss on the scoreline.
