A massive crowd is set to descend on Eden Park as the Wellington Phoenix host the Perth Glory with finals spots on the line. Follow all the action right here on The Roar with live scores from 1:35pm (AEST).
A 24,000-strong crowd turned out for the Phoenix’s first home game of the A-League season last week, and a similarly packed house is expected for this vital match.
The Nix are in superb form, riding a nine-match unbeaten run to be just two points out of the top six. However, with just one game to go after this one, anything other than a victory would leave their finals hopes out of their own hands.
The Glory have three more matches to go before the finals, so even a defeat would leave them still mathematically in the hunt for finals. However, their final two matches will both be away from home, so an end to their impressive five-match unbeaten run could be very costly indeed.
Kick-off time: 1:35pm (AEST)
Venue: Eden Park, Auckland

Betting: Phoenix $1.78, Glory $3.70, draw $4 (odds via PlayUp)

The second penalty was given by the ref literally just metres away, point blank range and not impeded by anybody. No need to refer that, but incredibly soft as the Phoenix player essentially went down looking for it. (so justice that it was saved).

Absolutely bonkers end to the game. BUT where is the consistency with VAR. Early penalty referred and correctly not given. Then late penalty given and not referred (and missed). Then at least x3 match-defining moments that would have benefited from a second look - and NOTHING?? Surely that's what it is there for - to ensure you get more right then wrong?

Practically, Phoenix is out of top 6.

Looking at who those around them are playing, with games in hand, they will need some lucky results to go their way from here.

Macarthur keep their destiny in their own hands now, instead of Wellington. Wellington now desperately need Macarthur to NOT win their game coming up to stand a chance.

But they need other results to go their way now. Their destiny was 100% in their hands going in to this match.

Does it really change that much, the Pheonix need to win next week.

Wellington was clearly the better team. Full respect for the massive crowd that lifted their boys. There was a bit of magic in that game. More wonder than Mark Bosnich’s secret pixie dust, I reckon. Macarthur fans are barley holding onto the top six by the skin of their wonky teeth!

Best game all season I've seen, not even a fan of either of these teams!

Few clubs are happy but some weep.

What a joke. Cannot believe all those missed handballs. Davila should have made it count with the one they got, but I'm not sure what the point of VAR is when they miss two clear hand balls.

And there is ANOTHER hand ball here. Has VAR turned off? Come on! Bit of a farce here.

Replay shows handball by Castrol but what is VAR's job?
