» Origin greats – the best ever NSW Blues team

But to the team, which most people are probably here for.

Here it is in full, and afterwards we’ll run through some of the more interesting answers:

The Roar‘s NSW Blues team for Origin 1
1. Josh Dugan
2. Blake Ferguson
3. Michael Jennings
4. James Roberts
5. Josh Mansour
6. James Maloney
7. Adam Reynolds
8. James Tamou
9. Michael Ennis
10. Aaron Woods
11. Boyd Cordner
12. Beau Scott
13. Paul Gallen

14. David Klemmer
15. Trent Merrin
16. Bryce Cartwright
17. Luke Lewis

There was very little controversial about the fullback and wingers, though many believe Matt Moylan is going to get the callup today.

Roarers saw the need for speed in the centres, selecting James Roberts and Michael Jennings ahead of other contenders like Josh Morris (and Dugan).

Maloney and Reynolds are the halves pairing, just as Laurie Daley’s is believed to be. It was both players by the length of the straight in terms of votes for.

A bit of a controversial one was the huge skew towards Michael Ennis, who got over 40% of the votes to claim the hooker spot, while Boyd Cordner’s recent form has been enough for many Roarers to pick him as the overwhelming favourite second rower.

Paul Gallen gets the lock spot.

The bench was a close run thing, with Luke Lewis just getting over players like Greg Bird and Blake Austin.

A big shoutout to the person who voted for Luke Davico to sit on the bench. That’s commitment to a genuine journeyman footballer.

Here’s the full breakdown of the voting for your NSW Blues State of Origin team:

Um... Because he's tried and tested? Showed he can handle to origin caulron? Made a SOO record 60+ tackles without a single miss? Is the only NSW 9 option to have tasted origin success? I'd say there is a few good reason, and that is why Dayley, who probably knows a little bit more than roar posters, picked him! Ennis was the rake for series loss after series loss, and was there for last year's drubbing don't forget. He plays his club footy in a quality side, which makes him look good. Farah, on the other hand, plays for a hopeless side with a hopeless coach. I'd say the majority of people saying he's done nothing this year and blame every tigers loss on him probably been haven't watching many tigers games. He is one of the few on the team who has been playing well and making his tackles. Some people just love to hate Robbie Farah. I just don't get it.

Beats me.. Farahs played 7 games this year..knocked out in the last one..been playing below par.. He's teams playing terrible.. Just mates picking mates.. Woeful.. Ennis is career best form..playing sensational..and the Sharks are flying..and a huge part of that is because of Mighty Mick.. Plus..which is a huge suprise..as he has not always been popular with opposition fans..they want him in too! Plus a whole host of 'experts' ie Geoff Toovey, Ivan Cleary, Mark Gasiner..just name a few..

Don't worry looks like he'll be 18th man, historically the 18th man is released to play club footy on the weekend and then returns to camp.

Now I am going to have a winge about losing one of the Dragons best go forward men in a team that lacks go foward men. TYson Frizell. Hell we have already lost workhorse Jack de Belin. The Dragons can ill afford to lost Frizz as well given out inept forward roster. Dugan is no great loss. We have plenty to take his place. Chance to give a youngster a go. I would like to see young Matt Dufty from the U20s given a couple of games.

I know I am in the minority but this annual SOO thug fest leaves me cold today. Why is the same level of hype and media bias never shown when our mighty Kangaroos play? Why do they continue to call this state of origin when almost all of the Maroons play in their own state these days. Except a couple of veterans from Melbourne which does not even take part in SOO because after almost 20 years they still do not have enough home grown players to make a team. This annual, disruptive series is dwelling in the dark ages. The NRL should be looking at making the game I grew up with and love into a full national sport.. Not just one played on the Eastern Seaboard and consign this antique to history. Jee I feel better after that post.

The mind boggles. It's even more baffling when you look at the Tigers record with and without Farah this year. If Farah does play and takes one kick from dummy-half - just one - instead of giving the ball to the two best kicking NSW halves we have had for a long time, I will throw the controller at my screen and make him pay to replace it.

Seriously, on what basis would anyone pick Robbie Farah? He wouldn't make the third best Blues side right now. I just don't get it.

The team selected by the fans is the team I would be extremely happy with. But if the news this morning is true, and Farah gets the nod over Ennis, I fear nothing will change in the results side of things.

Looking at that side I'd say plenty of Roarers have picked the team they believe the selectors are going to go with rather than the team they would like to see picked. In a recent article on the Roar in the comments there was almost universal disdain for Aaron Woods and consensus that he shouldn't be picked, yet he has polled the second highest number of prop votes.

Reynolds and Maloney will be the halves but Reynolds will be in 6 and Maloney in 7

I would agree probably at club level that would be the case, but as for origin, there is no one better to get us out of trouble than Dugan at the back, he might not set up any tries, but he is guaranteed to run 170m coming out of our own 20 and that will be the corner stone of getting our forwards up and moving. Additionally, I think that Moylan is transitioning into a five eight, not only does he have the required skill set, but I think that he has a cool head under pressure, and I like that about him. Where it gets tricky is if Tedesco is fit and firing....

The only changes to your side are that I would have Moylan or Coote at fullback, both have shown much better form than Dugan and Maloney at five eight.

Moylan & Mansour played like they had Origin on their minds yesterday. Both looked very shaky under the high ball. Cronk and JT will be salivating. Cartwright showed a steely edge to his defense shortening up Bird. Reagan Campbell-Gillard continues to impress.
