Kick-off bingo - When will State of Origin Game 3 kick-off?

By The Roar / Editor

It’s the question that dominates discussion in the hours leading up to State of Origin. What time will it actually kick-off? Game 3 in 2016 is no different.

Even though the NRL have announced they will open discussions with the Nine Network to bring kick-off times forward in years to come, it certainly won’t change tonight’s fixture, which will come to us after about a 50 minute Channel Nine pre-game show.

Looking for what time the game will actually kick off? Here’s our Origin kick-off time post.

The whole idea of kick-off bingo has been a Twitter phenomenon on Origin day in the past with Game 1 this year kicking off at 8:21pm (AEST), and Game 2 at 8:23pm.

Guesses for previous games have ranged from anywhere between 8:10pm and 8:30pm, with no more clarity this time around on the issue.

Roarers it’s now your turn. Tell us when you think kick-off for Game 3 will be and we will have the results for you this evening.

Update – 7:45pm (AEST): Roarers, you have spoken. We have had over 100 responses to the survey and 20.2 per cent believe kick-off will be 8:24pm – or one minute later than Game 2.

Coming in a close second was Thursday Morning, so quite obviously the late starts have left us with little faith.

8:20pm was also a popular option.

There’s no doubting this is the question the nation will be asking in the lead-up to Game 3, but in case you had lesser questions in mind, to the tune of something frivolous like ‘Who’s in the team?’ or ‘Who will win?’, check out our other Origin stories in the lead-up to Game 3. We’ve put a lot of work in, so you might as well read them!

If that's the case people will be drunk before the game begins

Did you know that half time is longer in Ch9 games than it is on Fox games. Actually is. Stupid right?!

You can add a drinking game to it - you have to have a drink every time somebody says that there are no dead rubbers in origin

I'll go 8:23pm. If I get the time right, do I win a prize?

What about resuming play after the interval? Will half time take 30mins this time?

Your video tape collection? That must worth millions of ZImbabwean dollars.

Ch9 muted in background until time on. I usually re-arrange my sock drawer or count my video tape collection while waiting.

They should have a public service announcement that says something like " No Wally Lewis from this point forward", so i know i can turn the volume on. I will suffer through Ray because I have to, but I can't do Wally into Ray. If they do some ceremonial thing for Gallen, it could be the latest start to an Origin match ever

Origin has always kicked off at least 30 minutes too late. I am not staying up till 10.30 on a work night to see the footy. Channel 9 are wasting their time with the pre-game anyway. Hands up who just tunes in when it starts and doesn't bother with all the pregame ad-a-minute crap.

Im also hoping that one day a trainer gets hit by the ball or stumbles and interferes with play. Cant wait for those guys to get OFF the darn field!
