Match preview:

Anthony Mundine and Danny Green are finally having a rematch, more than 10 years after their first bout that was the biggest pay-per-view event in Australian boxing history at the time. Join The Roar for round-by-round updates and a live blog from around 10:30pm AEDT.

A crowd of 30,000 saw Mundine use his boxing skills to win the fight comfortably via a unanimous decision at the Sydney Football Stadium in 2006.

Tonight, they face each other again at the Adelaide Oval, but a lot has changed in the meantime. For a start, both fighters are now in their forties and past their prime. But it’s an intriguing match-up all the same.

It’s being fought at a catch weight of 83 kilograms. Their first fight was at super-middleweight (76kg). Since then, both fighters have gone in different directions – Mundine fighting at even lower weights, and Green at heavier weights.

Danny Green has always maintained that he wasn’t suited to the super-middleweight division, though he twice unsuccessfully fought for world titles against Germany’s Markus Beyer at that weight prior to his bout with Mundine. Although Green is two years older than Mundine, the heavier weight will be in his favour.

Mundine is coming off hip surgery and hasn’t fought since suffering a TKO loss to American Charles Hatley (26-1-1) in November 2015. He claims he has been fighting with restricted movement for years, but that the surgery has fixed the problem.

The bookmakers have Green as a heavy favourite at $1.45, with Mundine at $2.75.

Besides his win over Green in their first fight, Mundine’s career highlights include victories over Antwun Echols (to win the WBA super-middleweight title in 2003), Daniel Geale (in their first bout), and American legend Shane Mosley (toward the end of his career).

Mundine also fought legends Sven Ottke (Germany) and Mikkel Kessler (Denmark) in their prime in what were honourable but unsuccessful world title shots during his career.

Green’s career highlights include his wins over the awkward Croatian Stipe Drews to win the WBA light heavyweight world title in 2007, and his first round stoppage over ageing American legend Roy Jones Junior in 2009.

He also lost a couple of world title fights when he was well in front on points at the time of the stoppage. The first was a disqualification for a head butt against Markus Beyer in Germany in 2005. The second was when he was stopped in the 11th round against Poland’s Krzysztof Wlodarczyk for the WBC cruiserweight title in 2011.

Judges picking sites are shouldn't be allowed to judges score at a great sport like boxing , boxing is a great sport and will remain the greatest but if we get to hire these mental judges then you surely ruin the sport and fan

There is no way in the world green would have won the fight , all he did was leaning against mundin to no get hit by him , you could clearly watch and be the judge Mundin had straight clear shots , that's the truth of the matter , not some crazy judges picking sites

I scored it 95-94 to Green. Green won the first five rounds, the first round being a 10-8 round, the sixth round I couldn't seperate them, green won the seventh but with a point deduction that was square too. Mundine finished very strongly and was all over Green in the last three, especially the 9th no knockdowns but Green was belted in that round, probably a 10-8 round to Mundine. The judges got it pretty right, although there was no way it was 98-90. Mundine can't be complaining he lost the fight in the early rounds needless to say another two rounds Mundine was fitter faster and dominated the final rounds. He looked the better man at the finish but the fight was ten rounds not three

"Absolute cheap shot but Green was happy with it because he had an excuse if he lost, and he would have used it as well." Based on whet are you assuming that? Any neurologist will tell you a shot like that has consequences. Green could have ended it there after that cheap shot, but he tried to be the better man.

Did it really effect Green? My opinion is that Green put it on. Absolute cheap shot but Green was happy with it because he had an excuse if he lost, and he would have used it as well.

Um, no he hadn't... Green first called Choc out in 2001. Then spent 5 years saying Choc was "scared" of him. He won an 'interim' world title against Eric Lucas. An 'interim' world title is pretty much a world title eliminator. He won his first ACTUAL world title when he paid Stipe Drews to not throw a punch...

Appalling decision, Mundine clearly won that fight Controlled the fight Fix is in Fights are won outside the ring Boxing is such a corrupt sport Both boxers threw illegal shots elbow and late shot. Green can take little pride out of that suspect win. However Mundine had to do vastly more just to make the weight. Mundine can take more from that loss than Green can from a dubious win. The judges score cards are an embarrassment to sport as a whole.

What a load. The better fighter lost. Danny Green you got your arse hsnded to you. And I wanted you to win!! Honestly being non biased and not really caring about these two invelid pensioners I have to say that Mundine won hands down no bs. All in all what a spectacular flop of a fight. Anticlimax to say the least. 98 to 90 spells paper bag under yhe table. Really sad gor Australian boxing when you wstch a guy that obviously won told he lost unanimously

Green had already won a world title before Mundine called him out. Who was Mundine going to call out if Green was not there??

Michael Buffer looked like he'd left the building then realise he'd forgotten he needed to announce the result and made it back just in time. ?

Just as confusing as the 98-90 judge is the fact that the 96-94 judge somehow scored round 7 as 10-10, despite Green getting deducted a point that round?

I dislike Mundines character more than anyone (actually was a top bloke when I met him) but there's no way in the world he lost that fight 9-1 as one judge had it. I had it 96-94 Mundine though I would've been happy with a draw or two close calls to Green but surely the guy who scored it 98-90 can't be considered to judge a fight ever again.
