Kieran Foran set to miss three months

By News / Wire

Canterbury’s NRL season has suffered a major setback with five-eighth Kieran Foran reportedly set to be ruled out for 10-12 weeks.
Foran has been diagnosed with an ankle syndesmosis injury and is expected to undergo surgery, according to Fox Sports.

It’s another blow for the 28-year-old New Zealander who has battled injury and personal problems in recent years but produced a man of the match performance in the weekend win over West Tigers.

MORE TO COME.

I don’t have much faith in Cogger either. Watched a couple Dogs reserve grade games and don’t think he has been that good.

Agreed. To be honest I’d forgotten about Brown. He was outstanding last year in ISP at 9 and 7 after Frawley got injured late in the season. JMK and Brown would be a handy rotation at 9. I don’t have a heap of faith in Cogger from what I’ve seen so far...but he’s got his chance now I guess...

I think the Dogs need JMK rotating at 9. I think Des stunted Lichaa but ultimately he is too slow and makes poor decisions. Unless Nu Brown can get back to fitness and play a JMK role at 9.

Given the structure of the salary cap at present a loan system isnt a bad idea.

Gawd, I feel sorry for me and the other tigers supporters. Why couldn't Foran go off as soon as he injured his ankle instead of playing the full game and totally humiliating the tigers.

Hi catcat, he's not listed on the team sheets that I can find.

Is Nu Brown an option? He was injured, is he back yet?

I'm a sporting polygamist who supports two teams - the Storm and the Bulldogs. My father was born within walking distance of Belmore. I've followed them since the 70s, but also followed the Storm since they started in 1998. Reynolds would be useful at the Dogs now. If only they could do an EPL style loan.

Us? I've always had you as Storm man Duncan? With Cogger there will be plenty of the enthusiasm of youth. Reynolds would be handy about now and keep JMK in dummy. Lichaa, I feel, slows everything down and poses little threat. Maybe Pay can tell him it's '17 again, start running!

I heard there's a guy named Reynolds playing reserve grade for Wests ... maybe they can loan him to us. In reality, the only upside to this is Cogger gets a chance.

Yeah, it was a bad taste joke. It would suck slogging out a preseason only to get 3 games in.

Probably earning less per game then Reynolds to be fair

It does seem a little that way JB. As TB says below hopefully Cogger can slip straight in....at least he'd have an immediate relationship with Meaney. (Hope you're winning on the punt mate)

Has this dude played for more than 3 games in a row in the past 5 years? Walking disaster.

Somehow I think Foran is not to be envied right now. You put in a 4 month off season and then are frustrated in what you most want to do, which is play football.

Maybe the NRL needs a 'loan' system like soccer so a club rich in halfback could give one grade more experience by 'loaning' him out to a team injury struck. But then - I suppose it works in soccer because they go to different competitions and not face their original team.

Meanwhile Cleeland is killing it in ISP for Ipswich.

Such bad luck for Foran. He’s had a full pre season and has really put in so far this year. He was outstanding on Sunday. The runs he put on for the try he scored and the one he was held up were brutal, body on the line stuff that we haven’t seen for a couple of years. I know we’ll get the injury prone calls but this was just bad luck...a 110kg prop landed on his ankle. Gutsy effort to play the rest of the game with it... Couldn’t have happened at a worse time...I guess one option is JMK to 7 and Lichaa in, but I’d prefer Cogger straight in at halfback. Brandon Wakeham has some wraps but can’t see him jumping the queue...
