Confirmed: Sharks to release Morris after Round 2

By Scott Bailey / Wire

Cronulla have released Josh Morris to join brother Brett at the Sydney Roosters, after round two of the NRL.

Cronulla will release Josh Morris to the Sydney Roosters after round two, as they aim to ease salary cap pressure.

The Sharks had long insisted they wanted to keep Morris, who was desperate to join his brother Brett at the Roosters.

Morris will fill the void left by Latrell Mitchell at the defending premiers, while the Sharks will be paid a transfer fee and could pursue forward Poasa Faamausili.

This is professional sport. I am sure Ikuvalu is aware of where he fits in. He is a Canterbury Cup player who can do a job in an injury crisis.

When they both came to Belmore, I was rendered weightless in anticipation. Alas, injury (usually Origin) curtailed the club from seeing them at their best. Josh's combo with Ben Barba in 2012 kept me spellbound for the season and I rate the game against the Storm in Mackay as one of the greatest exhibitions of Rugby League in my lifetime. I hope the Brothers Morris remain injury free and deliver for Easts.

Good luck to him. Thanks for all your efforts at the Sharks JMoz and I hope the move is everything you want it to be. This bloke has been put through the wringer over the last few weeks and I am glad we now have a resolution. Up Up

J. Moz is sure..the bottom line is, where does Ikuvalu think he fits in being an unloved 5th in the pecking order ? Nice profile of him over at Athletes Voice if you’re interested by the way..

But B.Moz is a natural left side centre who would fit neatly on that hot left side of the Chooks with Keary, Cordner, Tupou & Teddy regularly. Angus & Aubusson are utility centres and both are right side players more suited in the backrow, where they will likely end up with natural attrition during the year. I can see B.Moz going straight into the team in Round 3.

Sure, so why isn’t he in the side ? Big slap in the face preferring backrowers Angus, then probably Aubusson, then probably winger B. Moz in front of him for the short term? Final ignominy of the club chasing a 33 year old who quite frankly isn’t going to break that many lines any more, for the long term..5th in the pecking order. Number 18 on the bench this week, Robbo might surprise us yet..

Couldn't imagine the chooks would offer any outside back this year, that's where they are weakest.

That was no surprise..where was he going to play when Xerri came back and Dugan came to his senses ? What is surprising is looking for a middle forward as a replacement rather than inquire about Ikuvalu.
