AFL reveal semi-final and preliminary final fixtures

By The Roar / Editor

The AFL have announced the fixture details for the 2020 semi- and preliminary finals.

In the semi-finals next weekend, Richmond will take on St Kilda at Metricon Stadium – their preferred home venue in Queensland – on Friday night, before Geelong ‘host’ the winner of Collingwood versus West Coast, which is still ongoing, at the Gabba the following night.

The following week, the Brisbane Lions will host the winner of Geelong’s semi-final at the Gabba on Saturday, with Port Adelaide to take on the other victor at the Adelaide Oval Friday night, giving the minor premiers the potential advantage of an added day’s rest for the grand final.

Both Friday games will begin at 7:50pm (AEDT), with the Saturday matches beginning ten minutes earlier.

ha ha as a tiges man thought last year was fine (but yeah not exactly exciting after 1/2 way thru the 2nd qrt), can see how neutrals would have been less than thrilled watching it

have to admit your boys & brissy are in the box seat, other than wanting my tiges to win it really not that fussed if its an all interstate granny, long as its a good game ('04 was a good one i reckon)

yeah AJ thats true re them getting home games due to afl sched requirements (read that as maximizing profit, not some vic centric conspiracy as many would have it), but in this instance as the highest finishing qualifier they get the 'home ground'......... yeah doc weagles pies was an unreal game & prob the best of the round, but they were all great games to me, even found time amongst my despair (we just didnt look like we were gunna get the win about 1/2 way thru the 3rd qrt) i still was able to admire the way brissy went about it ........ i know u love watching the weagles do their circle work routine with their precision kicking (& they are very good at it), good for u, i personally dont mind watching the tiges bludgeon other teams into submission, prob helps theyre my team ..... as a side note the pies havent been exactly brilliant to watch this year, sat night was an exception

be good to see the tiges & cats (even pies) get through to the granny, keep it in vic i say, we dont mind these interstate interlopers paying their license fee, but they now have the temerity to contend for the silverware !

The Eagles and Port earned a home final. Tigers did not. Should they have two now? A different question. My reference to skillful play was to the Collingwood /Eagles game. Two teams that used an epee rather than a waddy. My preference of course.

i was pointing out that wc & port got to play where they wanted, so as the 'home' team why shouldnt the tiges ? dont see your prob with the '19 final series, if that is what u referred to ....thought they were all great games, tight, tough, fast & as u say some great skills on display. disappointed we couldnt get up but have no probs saying we were outplayed & prob outcoached too, kudos to brissy, luckily we have the double chance, but have a few things to improve, confident if we can play at our best we have a very good chance, but the same goes for all the teams in it still

Your problem is that you see a comment regarding your coach getting what he wanted as a whine. In fact, it seems that everything is a whine, unless,of course, it's praise for the lovely Tigers What did you make of the game? Wasn't it great to see football skills on display?

tell me doc where did wc get to play their game last night ? where are port playing their prelim ? so 2019 - tiges played brissy in brissy qual final, won so then got to host prelim at the mcg, won that that so played granny (as the highest positioned qualifier) at the mcg ? wheres the problem ? when youre gonna have yet another whine u should try to at least base it on something actually unfair

The AFL gave Hardwick what he wanted. A game where they haven't lost all season and 500 m. from their hotel. Reminds me of 2019...
