NRL grand final teams: Pangai OUT for Panthers, Souths sweating on star's fitness

By The Roar / Editor

The NRL grand final teams have been revealed.

Tevita Pangai Jr. has played his last game for the Penrith Panthers after being ruled out of Sunday night’s grand final with a knee injury. Moses Leota takes his place at prop.

James Fisher-Harris, on the other hand, has been named to play despite having scans on his knee.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have named an unchanged 17 for the third time this finals series, but will be keeping an eye on the fitness of halfback Adam Reynolds as he manages a groin injury.

What's the consensus on whether the Broncos added anything to TPJ's career? I'd like to know the ROAR's thoughts on that one.

Cheers mate. Like I said before, your Eels were robbed by the Panthers and had every chance of beating the Storm for the third time this season to be there on Sunday. It could have (should have) been our two teams going head-to-head. Brad Arthur needs to include a few referees on his Christmas card list, I imagine. :silly:

Yep. Forget the refs, enjoy the lead up to the big dance, and I'm genuinely backing the Bunnies to bag another premiership, in a very close one. I almost don't envy you, as I know how stressful it is watching your team play a critical game (and we haven't at this level for a very long time) but I think you'll see them take the honours. Enjoy.

It appears so. Follow my comments, mighty. Now compare that to ZT. I'm virtually a choir boy these days.

No, I haven't seen the movie, and as for 'try and keep up', in fairness you change your tag on an extremely regular basis. Are you still upsetting people?

He looks like the black sheep in the team to me but if he tackles well, then that's the main thing. He's put together a bit like Brad Parker and it's not a great design if you want to run fast.

But he tackles well in all positions and can ball play. He can be a 4th forward or 9, 6 , 7.

If only coach Cleary would give Spencer more than 11 minutes per game ? Hopefully , he has been saving him up for the GF ?

Roger was still there when he joined. Cowboys are paying Chad just as much as the Dogs are paying TPJ if not more. It's identical intent, improve odds of winning, absorb collateral damage.

I don't want to sound like sour grapes but what is the collective consensus as to whether TPJ had added anything of value to the Penrith squad?

I'm sure they knew "Uncle Nick's" door was open if they wanted to raise any grievances, DPS. After all, that worked a treat for Mitchell Pearce, Adrian Guerra and SKD didn't it?

Is it too much to ask (and agitate for) a fair and impartial referee, mighty ? Surely, given their history with 9-2 penalty counts against the least penalised side in the NRL, both Atkins and Klein would have been highly suspect choices. Sutton gave BOTH the Rabbitohs and the Panthers a fair go in the 2nd qualifying final with a fairly even 7-5 penalty count and 3-2 ruck infringements (six again's). There were no controversial calls, mighty. Not after Sutton reminded the Panthers from the kick-off not to illegally block defenders getting to the kicker. I haven't heard any Panthers or Rabbitohs fans complaining about Sutton's refereeing in that game. As for allegations of extreme sarcasm, well you always used to appreciate my irony on ZT. Don't tell me you have never seen the movie; "7 Faces of Dr. Lao" mighty? Try to keep up mate.

And it's obviously not (possible for Russell Crowe to ref the game). Perhaps the (extremely sarcastic) point was lost on some. Didn't Souths beat the Panthers in the first round of the finals with Sutton as the ref? Were Souths so great that overcome that seemingly unsurmountable obstacle? The GF is this week, yet to be played, and it's not a forgone conclusion yet. Some (and I'm sure it's just a very vocal minority) seem to be making excuses for a (potential) loss already.

I'd want to check some dates before I conceded the Townsend comment. Did he come on board before or after Roger left?? Because when Roger left they threw in the towel and didn't think they would be there at the end. I didn't go troppo over that one because of that and because he wasn't going to save them.

CAN Russell Crowe referee the GF mighty? I didn't know that was possible. Well, "Uncle Nick" phoned in the calls to the bunker in 2018 and 2019 so, why not?

Enjoy the week WB. You have a great side this year. Committed forward park, flair in the backline. Great D. Must admit after 2011, and prior to that GFs in 07 & 08, I did not expect to be waiting over a decade for another GF week. They are such a great time as a fan. I know I’ll savour Manly’s next one a little more. You really have no idea how long it could be between drinks.

Jeez Louise, I reckon there would be some Souths supporters still crying foul if Russell Crowe was the ref, James Packer was in the bunker, Wayne Bennett was 1 of the touchies and Sam Burgess was the other, because Sam Burgess may no longer have a financial interest in the club.
