An intriguing clash gets the Sunday footy fixture underway, as the Adelaide Crows host the Essendon Bombers at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:05pm (AEST).

Adelaide’s 2020 season has been a rough one. Still winless, the club lost their first seven matches of the year, four of those in their Gold Coast hub.

Last week’s effort, to their credit, was an improved one. Back at Adelaide Oval, the Crows still succumbed to a loss against the Saints. Today they’re again at their home venue but their prospects are not strong.

Their opposition today are enjoying a stronger season. Essendon, still with a game in hand, have worked their way to a positive win-loss ledger. They have lost a couple of late – including a close one to Carlton and last weekend’s heavy defeat to the Bulldogs. The Bombers have largely warmed into the season nicely though and are favourites today.

The Crows are taking an unchanged team into today’s clash. Essendon have lost Cale Hooker to injury, while also dropping Andrew Phillips.

Depends whether by doing what he did puts the umpires off on how far he actually ran between bounces.

McKenna is seriously troubled by his broken hand. He trys to softly grab the footy with it, resulting in the drops he had today. Probably why he tried that silly soccer clearance, no confidence in his hand. His best was very good today, pity it was just sandwiched in between some rubbish. He'll come good as his hand heals.

No, the solo doesn't count as a bounce. He came very close to running too far. But you would rather the umpire err in favour of the player in that situation wouldn't you?

Can someone tell me when a player does a little Gaelic kick to himself like McKenna did today do the umpires take that as a bounce. I saw him today bounce the ball, run about 10 metres, do the Gaelic kick and run another 10 metres then bounce the ball.

Hahaha that one at the end was the worst one, if we didn’t have so many damn injuries haha

I feel like the AFL needed to come up with some guidelines around player management going into this stretch. Leaving teams to weigh up competitiveness vs OHS is a risk.

disagree McKenna has missed enough footy let him build some continuity. Had some errors (let's not mention that one at the end) but plenty of positive play as well. Hopefully get some players back soon

Alright, yeah, I do get that. It is a concern. But not just for Essendon as you say. I think the 19 consecutive days of footy is going to throw up a mammoth amount of health concerns.

Sort of performance-wise, but more health wise. I think it was Adam Saad who appeared to be cramping in those last few second. There might have been others off camera. It seems a little dangerous that they have to play again off a short break, off a long trip. Dangerous for all players at all clubs.

Bombers did not deserve that win, Adelaide were always gonna come and the bombers just panicked. I think McKenna needs to be dropped, he was absolutely atrocious today, and could use some time in the twos to build his confidence. I was super impressed with Cahills composure

welcome to footy 2020. This year's premiers will be one of the greatest ever, so much to overcome for every team

Not sure what you mean here. If you mean logistically wise, pretty sure you don’t need to quarantine in Queensland if you’re travelling from SA. If you’re talking about backing up performance wise - they’re not at a disadvantage because Brisbane is playing tonight and next Friday, too.

mate, take the 4 points and celebrate, a win is win, thought the Crows played well and Bombers played well enough to win, again well done Bombers.

Adelaide were great today. The problem is when bottom sides push a better side like they did today, and have an honorable loss, they often get smashed in their next game. Merrett best on ground today. Langford covered the loss of Laverde. Essendon would be glad to come away with the four points, in a game that they would often lose, given their history against bottom sides. They will have to play better than this in order to vanquish the Lions next week.
