The season is on the line for Essendon and Sydney as they lock horns at Marvel Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:25pm (AEST).
Having been fifth just a fortnight ago, the Bombers’ two losses to Geelong and the Western Bulldogs have seen them fall outside the eight, and are in danger of squandering their excellent start to life under Brad Scott.
The Swans, meanwhile, are beginning to motor at long last, winning two in a row and losing just once in their past five; sitting eleventh, another victory would help them continue to bridge the gap between themselves and the top eight.
Venue: Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
First bounce: 7:25pm (AEST)

Don't get too excited. They were lucky to win this one. The bookies know where they are at.

we have really fallen off the cliff last five weeks. Hopefully we can win at least two of last four.

The worm has turned for the Swans good stuff mate, next week Giants ( they are a V.G contested footy team. Match them in the coalface & you’ll be ok

Given the help they got from their 4 assistants, I reckon Essendon have a problem.

Correct. I thought the umpiring was awful and really favoured the Bombers. I assumed it would even up as the game progressed. I was wrong. It is not the number of free kicks that influences a game. It is: a. when and where they are awarded AND b. the free kicks that aren't awarded AND c. the late play on calls.

Watty I am confused you say the Swans are too defensive yet they can't defend

What a boring life you must lead.

I have 5 of 6. Thought Port would win by 60 points at least.

  lol keep dreaming. This club will get smashed next wk and will not win another premiership under longmire. He is past it. Need a more attack minded coach who has a few plans to change things up rather than just nothing

Keep it coming Watty, the more comments the better chance we have of winning

Bombers really should have won that, dominated every key stat but scoreboard. Even then they had swans by the throat

Lol if Swans need a good luck charm, they truly are pathetic. Always good for a decent choke for at least 1 qtr a game. Good sides don't let a 30-odd point lead slip. But these are the times under longmire. That last quarter was a disgrace.

Very frustrating game from the Bombers there. I think we are going to have to cut aggressively at the end of the year

Swans to get utterly smashed by the giants next wk. Got belted in all key indicators except score board. And lucky that essendon didn't run right over them Were as solid as water in 4th quarter.

When you come on board Watty we win. Keep up the comments mate you are our good luck charm

Lol they didn't deserve it. Got smashed in all key indicators. Can't wait till they get smashed by the giants. Played alright until 4th qtr. Then decided to just defend ( and rather crappily i might add). This is why swans will not play finals this year

Well managed by the umpires - any marginal transgression by Swans esp early was freekicked by the umpires and Bombers didnt appear to be subject to holding the ball rule. I notice they put up the free kick board early but dropped it after it got embarrassing...

You helped us win Watty, thanks mate

Swans dodged a bullet there. Got away with a huge choke job
