Not enough training, poorly paid, lots of abuse, rules that have too much grey area ie the stand rule or tackling rule. I wouldn’t do it that’s why I don’t criticise too much. I agree the standard is quite poor but the AFL need to pour more money into this instead of pretending it’s not there and giving each other pay rises

Six Points: Channel 7's commentary, the AFL's most underrated coach, and what on earth is wrong with a draw?

13 th there is no doubt the umpiring is poor. My point was that all teams will cop the rough end of the umpiring at some point. Most sports have issues with officials and the decision making. Rugby Union is extremely technical and divisive which is why I don’t watch it anymore. Our game is not perfect but maybe that’s why we keep coming back for more

Every team at some point in the season will have a problem with the umpires. Accept it and move on, the result won’t change

Get yourselves into a home prelim and you will be tough to beat

Forget Cripps, Curnow and Walsh - the unsung Blues heroes driving Carlton's premiership push

Sorry Demons fans they also play you before Swans

Forget Cripps, Curnow and Walsh - the unsung Blues heroes driving Carlton's premiership push

The fringe players are the ones who will help you get to finals but the key players often win finals. Big test for Blues this week and then Pies on a Friday night. Not long after that they face Sydney at SCG.

Forget Cripps, Curnow and Walsh - the unsung Blues heroes driving Carlton's premiership push

It was perfectly executed at point of argument and intended target

With their defence and a trade steal firing, the Cats lead the ladder. The next three weeks will tell us if they really deserve to

Gallimaufry wordplay!!! Brilliant Yatz.

Anything on Swans?

Six Points: Greene lucky to only get a week, 2024's two best wins, and the moment that sums up woeful Roos

You make a good point PD. I wrote on another post that he is certainly a brilliant player but he just can’t help himself. Every now and again we read that he has “matured” but there is always a grubby act around the corner. He lets his teammates down

Six Points: Greene lucky to only get a week, 2024's two best wins, and the moment that sums up woeful Roos

Toby is a brilliant player, one of the best in the AFL. But 22 charges or match review citations, 6 suspensions and over $30K in fines over his career. Repeat offenders don’t do their club any favours

Monster Tribunal night confirmed as Giants challenge Greene, Hogan bans, Eagles appeal star's dangerous tackle

Charlie Bombers were the better side last night , only inaccurate kicking made the game close. Those type of wins really make a difference to the confidence

Footy Fix: Ferocious, fast and fantastically coached - stuff the controversy, let's give the Dons the respect they deserve

No point in the AFL endorsing a Pride Game in Sydney then not punishing a homophobic slur.

AFL News: Calls for Finlayson to cop ban for 'unacceptable' homophobic slur, Port coaching change on the way

PD, what you say makes perfect sense and you are spot on. Unfortunately the AFL is not good with “transparent penalty systems” or consistency. It seems that a simple solution like yours cannot be adopted and the penalty or explanation will be full of fluff and out of touch with sensible expectations

AFL News: 'No credibility' - Freo slam ex-ump's 'spoilt brat' whack at Clark, Dees to challenge Pickett ban

The NRL have really missed an opportunity to make a statement here. If even half of what Jennings is accused of is true he should not be playing again. Why can the NRL not make tough decisions and show everyone involved in the game that violence towards women is not acceptable or tolerated

Whether NRL celebrates Jennings' milestone or not is irrelevant, the real issue is should he have been allowed back?

Nice article Dem. A big plus for the swans this year is their depth. With 3 experienced players out in the first month you would definitely take 3-1. Longmire is big on players who can play various positions and roles. I think we have all been waiting for Heeney to be more consistent

'Disproportionate reaction': Forget the doomsayers - Sydney's shock loss to Richmond means absolutely nothing

It’s late at night and I’ve had a shi11y day… sorry Doc and Rowdy, I’m confused

Mass confusion erupts over AFL 'abandoned match' rules after Easter Monday's bizarre lightning-enforced delay

Interesting post PD. I didn’t realize drug usage was so widespread. But please no more BT quotes. Every time the “wowee “ rubbish invades my TV I want to smash it.

Six Points: Commonsense solution to score review influx, and why this star Tiger should get two weeks

It is just a game. All the best Nics.

You make a good point RT. But this year in gather round Swans v Eagles at Mt Barker or somewhere rural I think. If you had St Kilda v Freo take it to Wollongong or Newcastle or even Coffs Harbour. Play others at SCG and Giants as double headers to increase support. Not sure if it works but if more in NSW took notice it can’t be that bad.

The AFL didn't need to rob the NRL's house with Opening Round - it's more than big enough already

I’m not convinced the “opening round” is fair to the whole competition. The whole idea of getting northern states to watch AFL because the NRL were in Vegas the week before just doesn’t make sense (and I’m a Swans supporter living in Sydney). If the AFL were serious they would rotate Gather Round and give AFL a far bigger presence in NSW or Qld every 2-3 years.

An extraordinary win. Not many would have given us a chance when Head went early. Credit to Marsh and Carey who were both under pressure. Capt Cummins also was huge and proved his doubters wrong again. Fantastic test match.

Carey the clutch king: Gloveman's stunning 98, Cummins heroics keep Kiwi curse alive in thrilling comeback win

The upside to this years Swans will be the depth. With 3 quality midfielders out others stepped up although if Heeney stays fit he could be first picked and a big Brownlow chance. Not only Ladhams but if Sam Reid decides to play again he will also put pressure on the talls up front. McLean is Swans version of Harry McKay. Big test away v Pies at MCG but certainly promising start

Footy Fix: No Mills, no Parker, no problems - How Swans' new-look midfield beat the Dees at their own game

Have just seen that hit so if the AFL are serious that gets 6 week’s minimum. Head hit, off the ball etc. I know Maynard got off but surely our great game can heavily penalise these hits

AFL pre-season notebook: Responding to another dog shot, and admiring Mitch Owens

Hey Adam, sorry to hear life has not been good brother. Keep your chin up and hope this year goes well for you and Port ( except against Swans)
