The season is on the line for Essendon and the Western Bulldogs as they lock horns in what could prove to be a virtual elimination final under the Friday night lights. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).
Just percentage separates the Bulldogs and Bombers in seventh and eighth on the ladder respectively, with the Dogs clinging onto their spot despite a narrow loss to Sydney and the Dons slumping from fifth after being thrashed by Geelong.
Out-of-form key forward Sam Weideman has paid for the loss with his spot as one of two changes, with young gun Nik Cox and ruckman Andrew Phillips recalled. The Dogs, meanwhile, have made four changes, with Sam Darcy, James O’Donnell and Lachlan McNeil all forced out with injury while Bailey Williams has been dropped.
Having been the subject of trade scrutiny of late, Bailey Smith returns from illness to bolster the Dogs’ midfield – can he provide Luke Beveridge’s men with the spark they need?

100% man every team needs a player Like him. I think his disposal is probably underrated as well but for a inside beast he's very good not only with those lighting hand passes but by foot mostly as well.

Congrats to the bulldogs and supporters. Commiserations to bombers fans out of the 8 and don't want to call it too early but could be another 365+ days to wait to break that finals curse..

The last time I saw an Essendon team play with so many marks was under Hird. It’s a bizarre game plan.

It’d be a better finals series without them that’s for sure :stoked:

Can’t see them staying in the 8. No talent in their team. The most bog average of all teams in the AFL.

I was thinking only those recycled at new clubs this year, but hey if he continues with the consistency of 10 goal victories like the last four weeks he may just redeem himself :stoked:

I love Bevo’s pressers, especially when they lose.
