Well Don , the umpires may well have been in error over the 'mark' in the first instance but it won't change the abuse free kick given. I was thinking how umpires at my local competition award 50 metres and a free kick for crowd abuse. That wouldn't be heard at AFL level but it emphasises the fact not to speak out against an ump when he can hear. And ,of course, a loss always emphasises 'bad' decisions. Particularly in a crucial match up against a top side Freo will ..or should..learn and bounce back.

Take the 4 points but you know who the better team was…and with Frederick and Switkowski off injured and Darcy, Chapman and O’Driscoll ready to return. Cox for the finals as well. No whinge. Just a response. Your post is a whinge. Carlton seems unprepared to play Freo on its merits. Seems to rely on arrangements with umpires if they are behind on the scoreboard in the last minute. The mystery is why the whistle is so willing to comply.

Officiating last week was worse. I didn’t think it was bad at all. Cottrell mark is a mark 99 out of 100. The game was over at that point anyway. The free for dissent was there also. That’s not poor officiating, it’s football. You could say the missed high shot by Weitering was poor. You could also say the free against Newman was poor. I’d say the better team on the day lost, but that’s because of their game plan. Carlton only had to be the better team in patches to win and ultimately, that’s what happened.

I like that Macca Don and I discussed the defences of both teams Blues line up is up there with any in the comp I said it would be a tight defensive tussle I think we know whose backline stood up

It’s very clear - a clear and obvious error in fact. I actually think 2 players touched that ball (Fyfe and Aish) but the Aish one is obvious and one of the umpires saw it. This is the sort of errors a captains challenge could be brought in to solve. As discussed - I don’t really know how it works yet.

Well thanks for invite Don but it’s not really necessary this may come as a shock but you don’t own this blog, you just act like you do. To my understanding The Blues got the four points by winning. Freo missed out on the four points by not winning, the umps did not see the touch that we all saw grazing the upper arm of a player in the slow motion replay, but the umpires didn’t, therefore a goal was kicked and payed then there was a free played to the Blues because of descent from one or more Freo players, and another goal was kicked by the Blues then the game finished and the highest scoring team won. Where is the “controversy”. Some people just feel the need to blame others rather than acknowledge their faults. Anyway Hope it goes Freos way next week. I will be backing your team:)
